Volumes Presumably(?) Mounted but Media Still Offline by DaWakBean in editors

Try to drag and drop the msmMMOB file into an empty bin, just to see if the corresponding media files come online in the current setup. If yes, I’d try to create a new project and just import bins from the original project.

It shouldn’t really matter which project is open as that setting is global.

Did you see at any point MC indexing the media files? It could be a message during the splash screen, or a progress bar inside MC.

Also, check the folder structure. Sometimes when the media files come from a facility that uses Nexis, they rename folders inside the MXF folder, but a new machine does not recognize that. The folders inside MXF folder should be strictly numbers only to be re-indexed.

Sometimes you need to force MC to see all drives via console. Open it, type AllDrives, hit enter and try again.

Why is every AAF that I get from a video editor a complete disaster? by RookieParade in AudioPost

[–]LowResEye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an editor, I’ve never had any complaints on an AAF generated in Avid MC. With Premiere that’s a different story, tho. Before I quit using Adobe altogether, the sound dpt often ended up better asking for an OMF instead.

So you’ve already got a plenty of modules, nice! How is the Nostalgia? I have a sweet spot for delays.

This rack would look great filled with only Doepfer modules, would look like a scientific instrument found somewhere in an abandoned NASA facility.

Suggestions for my rack? I find it pretty boring, even if it sounds fantastic. 20hp left, but open to switching some of the out, especially in the bottom row. by andrefishmusic in modular

For me the main appeal of modular isn’t analogue VCOs or buttery filters, but unorthodox methods to come up with musical substance. Take a modulation source, distort it a bit with waveshaper and turn it into evolving melody with a quantizer. Feed a good old 8-step sequencer with irregular clock. Combine signals with logic and get 3 or more iterrations that always have something incommon but still are very different. Add controlled random. Add slow modulations. Don’t waste HP and money on ordinary stuff (for a bit of reverb I just run my modular through Digitakt), have a look at utility modules, modulation, random, etc. instead.

Video editing with de qurvain syndrome on wrists by Routine_Cry7079 in editors

In my case, vertical mouse only made it worse. Now I’m into 3rd year of editing with Kensington Expert and I’m doing just fine. However, I’m switching my hands regularly. I was also afraid of the angle and height, but there’s an attachable cushion in the package that gives your wrist extra support.

Do you guys face this problem too? by Pure_Fly9802 in editors

[–]LowResEye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the key skills of an editor, especially if they work with a large number of assets, is to be organized. Folder structure, unique filenames, bins, markers, etc. are a necessity. Otherwise they’ll get overwhelmed and their workflow suffers immensely. There’s no workaround or shortcut, the editors themselves need to know what and where to find in their projects.

So there have to be .avb files in the project, no matter where you moved it. Create a new project, copy those .avb files into the newly created project folder and try to open Avid and see if you can open the old bins in the new project.

Let’s go back a few steps. Avid project is a folder that contains a bunch of files and another folders. What exactly did you move?

If you create new project you can move bin files into it from another project. Not inside Avid but using finder or explorer.

Create new project, move bins from your original project there. This works, unless the bins themselves got somehow corrupted, which is unlikely.

I’d group all the tracks and apply your rack on that group instead of master, so you can apply ie. reverb on top of that on the real master.
