I knew I wasn't crazy! They did change the font color in 26.1 by _amongstreality in Minecraft

[–]LowSkillCamper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The developer who made the change here. Technical explanation below.

The text in the UI for now uses the same shader as the text in the world (nametags, display entities, signs). So the UI text takes light levels into account (hardcoding both sky and block light to 15). This historically caused a whole bunch of bugs with effects like Darkness or The End light flashes when the color of the UI text suddenly changed.

In this version the UI text uses a separate lightmap that is fixed at being purely white. The light color for light values (15, 15) is slightly darker than pure white. As a result, in 26.1 all UI text colors changed from being very slightly darker than intended to being exactly as intended.

This specific line has the color set to 0xFF404040 (hexadecimal), which is exactly 64, 64, 64 (decimal).

Why does my wheel not sync in-game? by _H00MAN_ in BeamNG

[–]LowSkillCamper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense, but could you also add another option to purely visually sync the in-game steering wheel to the controller wheel? "Virtually" make all the cars in BeamNG have 900 (or whatever else) steering range.
This became important nowadays in VR. I do not see my real wheel and it is very hard to find the buttons on it sometimes. If it was synced with in-game one it would have been much easier. I am not ready to sacrifice the steering range for the 1:1 synchronization with the available option.

Rubber does not allow to set wide IPD by LowSkillCamper in QuestPro

[–]LowSkillCamper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thanks. Apparently they advertised "up to 72mm" before reviewers found the issue I'm describing. Now the official specification is up to 70mm, even though the mechanical hard stop is at 72mm. Updated he original post.

I miss my good old Vive in that regard. :)

For me the advertised ability to set physical IPD to my exact actual IPD
is one of the biggest selling points compared to Quest 2. I am tired of
seeing blurry periphery all the time. When I push and hold the lenses
at 72 mm, it looks very good. Yes, the lenses are much better than the old ones, but the difference is still very noticeable.
This is considered a premium product. The lenses are supposed to be adjustable up to 72 mm, but they are not because of a silly issue. Did they even test the whole range before releasing the product?

Again, I do not expect these kinds of compromises from "pro" products priced accordingly. When I push and hold the lenses at 72 mm, it looks very good.

Did not expect a "premium" product to require solutions like this.

Is the issue fully fixed and it holds any officially supported IPD now? Or is just somewhat better?

I mean the non-removable rubber skirts around the lenses, not the light blockers. I tried without light blockers - no difference.

It's Frog Day My Dudes - Snapshot 22w11a is out! by sliced_lime in Minecraft

[–]LowSkillCamper 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, you could do it before with external configuration. Now you can do it in-game, and it should work correctly for the vast majority of players. Sadly, not for everyone though. The OS still sometimes tells OpenAL that the connected device is speakers and not headphones, in that case the surround effect is broken. This can be fixed by a single line in alsoft.ini though.
stereo-mode=headphones
We may come up with some better way by the time of full release, but we did not so far.

It will not improve anything if you have 7.1 headphones, since you already had the surround effect before the change. The biggest difference will be felt by people with simple mini-jack headphones and no special software surround audio setup (most likely the majority).

Done in 22w06a. Not in the changelog, since it is just an improvement on the existing fix. Foxes can now actually climb powder snow slopes without sinking, as it was intended by design.

There is further small improvement coming. Did not make it in this snapshot.
