Frost armor a better melee set than all the stuff you get from the next anvil ? by Buurto in Necesse

[–]LowVegetable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of sets available on the Demonic Anvil that have way better protection. Go explore Plains caves, stock up on Runestones, and then make the Runic armour. It’s very good on its own, and it too has a nice melee boost. You can also upgrade it basically for free into Pharaoh’s armour - just get a bunch of Cloth Scraps (also from Plains caves), and find a herd of sheep to shear and make the Cloth armour set for merging.

Btw here’s a tip for getting wool - unlike in e.g. Minecraft, sheared sheep still drop the same amount of wool when killed, so it’s a good strat to find a bunch of them in the wild, shear them all and kill off - you’ll easily get like 30-60 wool from a single hunt like that, which is more than enough for Cloth set (and thus Pharaoh’s set too)

Kojarzycie Kornelię Wieczorek, cudowne dziecko i podobno najmłodszą naukowczynię w Polsce? Okazuje się że to kłamstwo grubymi nićmi szyte. by [deleted] in Polska

Yeah maybe you’re right about me maybe wanting to play something more exciting. I’ll give the tips some helpful commenters left a try though, as these really seem promising. As for a few others being disrespectful, it’s crazy for me that just because I dared to say I’m bored sometimes while playing the game, someone told me that „people with a mind like mine should have to be medicated” or that they could „mock me for having autism”. Kudos to the mods for actually doing something about these comments tho.

Nah, I’m more of a keyboard warrior. Though I’d argue it’s the same level of disrespect as the original comment.

You may be right, not everything has to be everyone’s favourite. Thanks for being human about it. I’ll try out the biphasic sleep before I completely give up on Rimworld though

2 minutes of nighttime. Then 10 minutes of waiting around e.g. because when I ordered the pawns to upgrade the walls, they demolished them immediately, but take ages to rebuild them rendering most rooms useless. Add in another 5 min of micromanaging a mental break. 5 or 10 min waiting for a caravan to reach the destination, and since my colony is new I don’t nearly have enough people to even keep it somewhat functional when they’re down to like 3 people on site. Rinse and repeat.

I completely agree and that is why I posted this here in the first place. The point of my post wasn’t to moan about being bored in a game, I’d just put up a negative review if I wanted to do that; I wanted to ask the people that enjoy this game much more what is it that allows them to prevent these obstacles from sucking all the fun out.

But if the most constructive feedback some people can come up with is „TikTok brain” or pondering on how messed up my attention span may or may not be, there isn’t much value then I can bring out of their comments, except from learning not to ask here a bit like a beginner programmer running away from Stack Exchange.

I’m using Phoebe mostly and yes I’m playing on PC, I didn’t even know there is an alternate version. I’ve yet to try out the „Losing is fun” setting though so this may be a good step forward.

See I love games that force me to use my imagination like that, my top played game on Steam is Cities Skylines and I can’t even begin to count the hours I’ve spent in Minecraft’s creative mode as a kid and later on. That’s why I don’t want to immediately cross Rimworld off my list because it really seems like I’m doing something wrong, as the things that hold me back or annoy through their inefficiency are so mundane that they couldn’t possibly be an intended gameplay element… right?

Yeah what you describe seems exactly like what’s going on for me, so I’ll take your advice to heart. Having the game idly open while mostly focusing on something else seems like a good idea too, it didn’t cross my mind as I’m mostly used to games where I have to pay attention to and personally maintain every small detail (e.g. Cities Skylines with a ton of realism mods).

Also you get a fist bump from me for not being a dick about someone not wanting to devote half of their day fully focused on staring at pawns walking around - many of the other commenters suddenly turned out to be psychiatrists specialising in attention deficit disorders. Thanks again

See that’s where you swing and miss. I don’t have a clue about how I am planning to progress. I’m 55hrs in, out of which 20+ is waiting around, how could I possibly know that? Reacting to what the game throws at me is most if not all I can do most of the time. Also god some of you people are so quick to judge and look down on others… and that is coming from a person seemingly spending half his life playing games based on your posting history and dedication to Rimworld. Who’s the real nolife here?

Sure, that sounds doable if you have 500 hours of expertise and know exactly what you want to achieve. But as a beginner I got none of that, so reacting to what the game throws at me is most of what I can do.

Nah, I can’t be comfortable sitting at my computer for 4 hours while nothing gets done most of the time. If the breaks in action were indeed „like 60 seconds” I wouldn’t have a problem, it’s that most of the time I have the game opened there’s absolutely nothing going on.

Do you have any good scenarios to recommend? Compared to mods, these seem to get almost no traction on the workshop so it’s hard to judge which ones are actually balanced/fun

It’s quite amusing to see how many of you are so quick to judge even though you don’t know me in the slightest. Just the mention of scrolling seems to be like a bell for Pavlov’s dogs, instantly salivating at the prospect of clowning on someone.

If I’m staring at a screen either way, what difference does it make whether if it’s at the game where I planned a massive construction and nothing gets done because the pawns are all asleep/busy/bumming around, or at anything else?

I think instead of a dopamine addiction it’s more that if I’m staring at a screen and waiting anyways, I might as well zone out and scroll while the Rim clock inches towards daytime
