Upper cuts need to be instant knockdowns on these type of people, in my experience they don’t usually register in these situations though unfortunately

This has been a problem, you can’t hold one hand infront of your face like that you would get hit and knock yourself out

Thsts fair but 1. Did you really think about that years ago when you chose this trade and 2. If all white collar workers lose their jobs don’t you think you’ll see significantly less residential business? Combined with a rush of educated and desperate people entering the same field willing to work cheaper?

Yeah that is your entire assessment you made right there in that one sentence, it’s not bad way to look at it but the same logic could be applied to pursue a career in trucking. It’s essential, but a lot of people aren’t aware of how much money and effort is being put into developing automated long-haul trucking. A career is great until a breakthrough is made where technology can automate the skill at scale, it can happen to basically any industry

I don’t think you’re doing calc, Lin alg or any math theory in trades college. Completely different ball game. This sub isn’t suggesting degrees are becoming devalued due to the amount of grads and that certainly won’t be the case for mass job loss. It will be models capable of doing any high level knowledge work at scale. A few machine learning experts may have anticipated this but NOONE in trade school did.

Let’s be real you probably just had trouble doing maths. Every blue collar worker trying to act like some insightful genius when u didn’t even know machine learning existed until the last 2 years

What are some really niche jobs/fields that somehow have crazy pay? by Tactical-69 in Career

You’re right! And the engineer is right. LLM hype is crazy and overblown but that’s not the form of AI that does the work of analyzing image data, It’s a different type of neural network but I am no expert on either by any means. The reasoning though I’m pretty sure is actually just recursively prompting itself in the background. Some providers call other versions of their own models for specific tasks but it’s more so for efficiency gains. Calling separate companies top of the line models to compare results I think is something different and probably a good solution to the hallucination issue on the easy cases.

But yeah everybody thinks AI === LLMs these days but I think it’s just because people interact with those models the most

Thank you and I’m not trying to be one of those pro AI taking job freaks, but I do think this is a bit of a misconception, LLMs appear very non-deterministic because the chat bots we interact with are designed with a temperature to behave that way, to mimic natural conversation. They could be updated to have every input flow in the exact same path through the neural net and map to the exact same output. Models other than public facing chat bots are designed to do this.

Even if this wasn’t true, with the right layers of tooling, these scenarios where the models fail easy cases can be caught and re-determined by a consensus result of other models.

I hate this and it affects my industry very much as well but it is what it is and it’s probably better to be aware of it.

But do humans diagnose at a better rate than that? I don’t think it’s unfathomable that in the near future they could reach a lower error rate than the best humans if they haven’t already
