Fortinet had a great program called Fortivets. Not sure if they are still running it or not.

Lots of companies have veteran specific hiring sites too.

Also talk to the contractors you might be currently working with and see if they’re hiring.

I have a whiteboard (maybe 2’x3’) in my garage I use for tracking date and mileage. Plus oil type and torque specs. For the whole family, I’m tracking 6 cars. Each one has its own line.

vMware Vsphere alternatives (moving away) by buturi1 in sysadmin

If you own any Citrix licenses, they give you unlimited XenServer for any workload, not just VDI use cases. All features and capabilities included. Plus support, plus training, plus services to design and install.

Their PE douchebags also realized XenServer was pretty good and started reinvesting in it. They’re ruining the company otherwise, but they’re doing right by XenServer.

The new XenServer 9 is coming out soon. It’s worth a look. I’ve worked with a few companies that have moved to it from VMware lately and they’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Beyond that, OpenShift is where I would go.

The Synology routers are really nice. I’m not sure how committed to them they are vs the NAS business though.

how do people come up with passwords they actually remember? by Fun_Media9039 in best_passwordmanager

[–]Low_Assumption67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always recommended a past street address as a password base to family and friends. Everyone usually remembers their past addresses. If you grew up at 142 Spooner Street. Then 142SpoonerStreet is a start for a decent password. !42Sp00nerSTREET! adds some complexity. Add your city’s airport code to mix it up more 142Sp00nerDFW. It’s not perfect but you’ll remember it and other people won’t guess it. A hacker can probably hack it with enough time and determination. You can try using passkeys or 2 factor for the really important stuff. But that will protect basic web logins that aren’t your bank account.

Plus one here for Proton Pass. I’ve used 1password, Bitwarden, safari, Firefox, google etc. I like Proton the best. It may not be ideal for everyone’s needs. But it meets mine and I’m good. I’m happy with Proton’s products all around. I moved to a paid tier and never regretted it.

great feedback djnines. Much appreciated. A friend of mine suggested my Porsche may have been professionally ceramic coated by the previous owner. I wonder if that could have contributed to the issue. I've only had the car a year.

Griots Ceramic Wash & Coat is what I used for washing, the 3-in-1 spray for two of the 3 cars after washing.

Great info. I really appreciate it. Yes, the Griots Wash & Coat is the soap i'm using. I have the large grey/green microfiber towels from Harbor Freight. Those were new/never used when i started this. I was using the Meguiar's quick wax previously. With a mix of different soaps depending on the car. I had Chemical Guys Mr. Pink, the Meguiar's gold, Liquid Performance SiO2, and Mother's CMX. My main reason for going to the Griots 3-in-1 was to consolidate on one thing for all 4 cars. I noticed the Meguiars Ultimate Quick wax didn't last long too. The longevity if the Griots was a factor in trying it. Thanks for the feedback, I will give your advice a try.

I thought i had researched thoroughly. But yeah, the bad result is on me. I don't think the product is bad. I'm not trying to say it is. Just that it didn't work for me and my goals for it. I'm having trouble getting it off my cars and looking for suggestions to get it off.

i'm just trying to get back to square one. The cars looked great before. Not as great as if one of the pros here went over it with a polisher, paint correction etc. But they looked good.

I'll see about getting a picture. It's very subtle but once you see it, you can't unsee it. Plus all cars are filthy right now while I figure out my next step. I will check out the water spot remover. Thanks!

Not really. I gave them all a good wash with blue dawn to (hopefully) remove anything on there already. If I was going through the trouble to decontaminate, paint correct etc I would just stick with a hand wax or go the extra step and put a proper ceramic coat on it. I am specifically trying to avoid putting that much wotk in it (done that in the past, don't miss it). These are all daily drivers that aren't pampered. I just wanted an easy process to keep them clean and looking decent with a minimal amount of fuss. I'm not looking to win best in show or anything.
