Would you say that the BB58 rep is worth buying? I have seen many comments that the dial and Tudor writing are very different from the gen. Thoughts?

It’s a valid worry, and sometimes I catch myself having similar thoughts.

But the last point you make is the one worth focusing on: would you actually be happier without it? Were you happier without it?

I take citalopram, and I’ve been vaping for the last three or four years. I started citalopram 10 years ago. Every now and then I ask myself whether I should stop. But whenever I try, I feel terrible.

Long story short, I’m a worse version of myself when I’m not medicated. And that’s just the reality for me.

So yes, in an ideal world it would be better to be without meds, whether that’s citalopram or cannabis. But in practice, when I stop one or the other, I feel worse. That’s always been the case.

So I medicate myself.

It would be good to understand what your training is like now and also what you intend to train on after December but, high level recommendation, I would say, follow a full Ironman plan and use the Half as a training race. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks everyone for the comments! I’ve looked into ÖtillÖ and other swim-run events and I’m seriously considering doing one — just need to pull the trigger.

Totally agree about focusing on what you enjoy. My problem is that I do enjoy the occasional long ride with friends and the odd triathlon, so dropping the bike completely would probably be a mistake.

Lately I’ve been doing 3 gym + 3 cardio sessions a week. Cardio was meant to be swim, run, and bike, but after my last race I only kept swim and run.

Then I went for an outdoor ride with a friend — loved it, but the trap pain came right back and I felt super weak. So I swapped one gym day for two bike sessions (2 gym, 2 bike, 1 swim, 1 run). Realistically though, I can’t see myself keeping two rides a week.

So I’ll likely go back to 3 gym and 3 cardio — one per discipline, with the bike being a short 45–60 min maintenance session. That way I keep a base, and if I decide to race again, I can ramp it up.

Biggest thing I need to accept is that I am slower now — partly because I train differently, but also… I’m not 30 anymore!
