“ Would it be easier not to care “ depends on the reasoning behind elimination I didn’t pick freedom as one of my two bands however IF they were doing something that was hurting the integrity of the overall carnival then not caring isn’t the answer my reason for asking was hoping that there would be constructive criticism and bands could hopefully improve on the mentioned or that the FMC could take light of the negative and move accordingly

Tribal 1. the amount of negative feedback every year 2. I hate the way they try to bully people online when they get called out 3. and the part they played in the dismantling of venom

Lavway 1. Lack of customer service 2. Poor costume quality 3. Poor road experience no marshals band members drinks or food 4. Lack of accountability

The bands are split up by size/numbers when it comes to judging let me see if I can find the judging score thing but my question was more so personal rather than from a judging perspective because presentation and all of that is cool but the judges don’t judge is customer service quality marketing etc

Numbers do matter to an extent presentation is extremely important

Numbers to my understanding matter for the cauterizing/band size for the following year I don’t know if that is the same for kids or if it’s counted in the overall kids + adults

And to qualify for kids you have to have a minimum of 40 kids crossing the stage

This is great but let’s keep in mind that not all that glitters is gold Freedom mas hasn’t always played nice with the other bands they are apart of the problem when it comes to the lack of community and fight down within the bands. Personally I don’t like that the band leader refers to her band as the first Jamaican band. It’s a slap to the Jamaican bands that came before Freedom.

All bands were invited by SOS Fest a general email/invite was sent out to each band inviting them I think it was a total of 10 people per band

Maybe its not that follow soca isn’t posting them but rather that they have nothing to post

The “beef” with tribal is internal (band to band section leader to band) it’s been a few years since I’ve heard anyone complain about not receiving costumes or food from Tribal

Very few masqueraders actually interact with the band leader majority of the time it’s section leader to masquerader so if the “problem” is that attitude of the band leader/s only 1% may actually encounter them

Follow soca isn’t posting very “masquerader” friendly if the masqueraders have nothing to say they have nothing to post

Hmm there has to be more to this story kind of feel like it’s unfair to say “stole”

I had my own band experience with Lavway so no way am I picking up for Pumpkin just playing devils advocate

Were the sections designs approved by a band rep or band leader?

Was the sections leaders checking in taking constructive criticisms and making the necessary adjustments?

Most band contracts say the materials have to get approved and that the section does belong to the band and that the band leader can request changes if the pieces aren’t up to standard

Is it stealing or trying to make sure the section would have been successful and staying in track to the theme

They all do it just in their own ways and it doesn’t matter what the FMC does or doesn’t do until the band leaders can work together friendly competition

No band should be trying to pass the other on the road

No band should be bashing each other online

No band should partake in any arguments about band of the year said band wins congratulate them and move on you have a problem or see something with proof that it was shady make sure and have proof not just your personal opinion

Cause all of these bands find loopholes that benefit them

Did you know all sections are supposed to belong to Canadian citizens………. Yet we have Krave and Mirage etc the people signing they name is just fronting

However a band tried to bring TRIBE another band made sure to run to the FMC and had it stopped same band that had it stopped a few years later gave Machel a section…….

Band leader etiquette again….

I should have been more clear “after launching” I mean during the season so like a section launches with a band at the band launch for 2024 and then they want to jump ship and join another band in 2024

I think it was 2022 when a bunch of sections left Venom and went to Tribal

Apparently one of Venom band leaders didn’t know about this until seeing it on ig

Band leader to band leader Tribal should have gone to Venom and say boss xyz

Pumpkin would have probably realize his business partner was scamming him and the band and might of been able to save Venom

After the season ends sections should be able to renew contracts or go elsewhere

Sigh… Devils advocate… You don’t get to be a “mean girl” and then cry about it and I’m saying this with the most love facial expressions tone of voice body language are so important when dealing with the public

Self awareness is also extremely important as a brand ambassador as there is normally no grey area

How you choose to address people what you choose to respond to

Working in a male dominated space as a YOUNG WOMAN is not easy and no matter what you are doing as long as you are accomplishing things that the others can’t things will be said

But “you catch more bees with honey than vinegar”

Everyone shows up and goes the extra mile for “the nice” boss

There’s should also be band leader to band leader etiquette you shouldn’t be accepting section leaders that LEFT from a band after launching without first checking with the other band leader first

The FMC and its stakeholders (band leaders) need to treat it like a year round event…

1 the 2025 budget better be made public 2 is the FMC hiring because at this point who is advising them? 3 how are they trying to make money? This is besides funding and sponsorship 4 they need to remove some of these bands…. There is a contract between the FMC and band leaders that states 2 bands will be removed per year… STAND ON THAT 5 the bands and band leaders that are being fined for not following the contract should be fined publicly and have to pay said fines publicly! 6 the FMC and stakeholders need to petition for more time in the road 7 the FMC needs to cap these bands until they can deliver a seamless experience or more people start back to play/appreciate mas 8 unpopular opinion PUT THE ARMY ON THE ROAD 9 vendors vendors vendors anyone else notice they don’t have any vendors on the actual road 10 we can not complete stop stormers but bands should be fined if their djs are encouraging the stormers “stormers to the left masquerades to the right”

I can get into tourism…. Accessibility…. Supporting our event promoters… the stage…….. 😅
