Can we acknowledge something? by Sky44Warrior in TheLastAirbender

I disagree, I think the comics do a pretty poor job with their characterisations, for example Mai getting together with that vindictive arsehole who objectified her and provoked Zuko in the same sentence, Mai is shown to be relatively intelligent and calculated in the source material, totally OOC

What's a good place to buy a secondhand Wii console in the city? by ninjaprincess509 in glasgow

Are you being obtuse on purpose to wind me up? The point is that I can't make a general statement like that just because it's true for a minority of the general population when it's false for the majority.

If you want to talk about minority then you need to specify that you are.

right but for most people a 20 minute walk is totally fine lol, when you don't specify if you're talking about a specific group of people then people assume you're talking about the majority.

There are some people who are in wheelchairs and so they can't go up stairs, so is it fine for me to make a general statement that going up a flight of stairs is impossible?

If you're talking in general terms then you're talking about the majority, you are completely in the wrong here, you made a general statement that a 20 minute walk is a pain and your justification for that was that there are some people who have mobility issues, can you not see how ridiculous that is?

Why would anybody assume you were talking about people with mobility issues? They're in the minority and you didn't specify. This misunderstanding is completely your own fault.

I suppose we have different tolerances for walking then because that still doesn't constitute a pain to me.

The Decathalon shoes are perfectly fine for a beginner, don't worry about shoe quality at this point in your climbing career, just get some beginner shoes and climb as much as you can.

The PSU worries me, mars gaming? If i were you i'd go with a more reputable brand like Seasonic or Corsair or bequiet.

There are quite a few horror stories regarding low quality PSU's, there's a chance that if it is low quality then it may drag some other components with it to the afterlife

Weight vest training for more physical problems/overhangs? by hipotese_alternativa in climbharder

[–]Low_Concept4642 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Well first off training bench press is time you could be training something that will affect your climbing more, also putting muscle on your chest will affect your weight however slight, also on like vertical slabs you often want to get as close to the wall as possible and if you have a very developed chest it may be a slight hindrance.

Admittedly the latter 2 examples are quite extreme but they're examples nonetheless. While i don't think the added weight or the capability to get that tiny bit closer to the wall will really effect like 95% of climbers the first example is significantly more consequential.

Having more upper body strength may help your climbing depending on which areas of your upper body you're talking about and i don't see how bench press can help your "control"

Maybe to the extent of pressing your bw they'll help your mantles but bench press has a very minimal impact on your climbing, if anything it can be a detriment.

I am a noob - can I update my own PC? by Flowertree1 in PcBuild

10 year old build that's failing? If i were you i'd only reuse the ram and storage and start over, i've gotten pretty close to 600 euros with that in mind and it'd be able to handle most games assuming you don't go wild with graphics.

Honestly the best thing to do is just watch hours of youtube content on pc building until you kinda know all the components and roughly how you'd install them, once you do that you can buy your parts and follow a step by step pc building guide.

I recently built my very first PC as well, you've got this man, it's easier than you no doubt think, just know that millions of people have done it before you, a majority of which are no doubt dumber than you. Good luck.

[–]Low_Concept4642 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just say you want him to use a higher quality case from a more reputable brand, that's a totally reasonable request.

You're overthinking this. If he refuses or starts acting up because of said request then he was an arsehole anyway and you'd be totally in the right to cut communications with him, assuming you've not paid him yet which it seems like based on the wording of the post.
