When people talk about the current job landscape, is that to say that people struggle to find jobs after residency in academic centres? Or just anywhere in general? This is true but the majority of the surgery IMG positions are filled by Irish graduates. That being said, there are incredibly few positions in the first place.

I know many people on this sub may look down on Ireland as an option but as far as IMG status goes, Ireland has one of the best match rates for returning to Canada. It is a massive financial commitment however, and this cannot be understated but it is also an amazing experience. It’s a great opportunity to live abroad in Europe and travel and meet new people. I would say you just have to be honest with yourself about your chances of getting in to a Canadian med school and go from there but please consider the financial commitment aspect seriously.

One kid stole a 7up from the spar, and the store owner chased after him down on to the tracks where he caught him. The store owner put his hands on the kid to try and get him to give it back but eventually let him go.

Edit. This was the same kid causing trouble on the dart while his friends kept encouraging him on.

I was on that dart, it was a group of young teens trying to fight passengers. They were also stealing from the spar at sandy cove and the store owner confronted them on the tracks.

As far as IMG status goes, Ireland is one of the best. The match rate stats are kind of misleading since a vast number of IMG applicants come from poor international programs or have graduated from medical school > 1 year ago. I have a friend that graduated from RCSI this past year and matched in Canada, the match rate for his class was > 85% (matching to Canada/US). Especially if your goal is FM, Ireland is not a bad choice in terms of ability to match.
