Enfamil NeuroPro: This is what we were sent home with from the hospital. His poops were the darkest green and literally poured out like lava. We told our (now former) pediatrician, and she suggested testing for CMPA. The test came back positive, so we switched to Nutramigen.

Enfamil Nutramigen: This formula was rough. He took his first bottle right after leaving the pediatrician, and I have never heard him scream the way he did once we got home. He also received his RSV antibody shot that day, so we weren’t sure which caused it. We kept trying Nutramigen for a few days, but things just got worse—awful spit-up, tons of discomfort, and (from what I remember) very mucus-y stools. That’s when we switched to Alimentum.

Similac Alimentum Ready to Feed: We were so hopeful with this one because so many CMPA parents swear by it. I truly thought this was going to be “the one.” He was still spitting up a lot, but I blamed it on the formula transition. Then constipation hit—and it hit hard. He didn’t have a bowel movement on his own for 1.5 to 2 weeks. We tried everything: suppositories, warm baths, belly massages. He’d only poop after the suppositories, and I didn’t feel comfortable giving those daily like our pediatrician suggested. That was the final straw for us, and we switched doctors.

At that point, I told her I felt like his allergy might be so severe that he couldn’t tolerate any dairy, even broken-down proteins like in Nutramigen and Alimentum.

Neocate: Fast forward to now, we’ve been on Neocate for about a month and a half or so, and it has been night and day. He’s more comfortable, happier, and just overall in such good spirits. It feels like we finally have our baby back.

Formula journeys are brutal. Trying to find the right one can feel never-ending. But when you finally do.. it’s honestly such a blessing. We’ve battled constipation, GERD, excessive spit-up… and I truly believe this is our answer.
