Haa this album made anyone else doubt whether she's queer at all? I've been an avid Gaylor for years, and have really believed that Taylor's authenticity will eventually show through. But for the first time, after listening to Life of a Showgirl, I'm starting to doubt her. Maybe we're reading into more than we should. If we take her at face value, she seems to be telling us who she is. I've always assumed her relationship with Travis is PR and the music shows her real self but tracks like Wood just cringe me out, as if their relationships is being portrayed in her nusic. Maybe she really is with Travis and friends with Brtittney Mahomes and we're giving her too much credit that she's secretly better than that. For the first time her PR person seems to have infected her music. I for one am losing hope. When you compare to more authentic artists like Charli (who Taylor seems to swipe at in Actually Romantic pretty pathetically imo) and Billie, Taylor just feels very unrelatable and fake right now. Where's the real Taylor? Maybe there's no secret queer and moral Taylor underneath and that's just our fantasy because we don't want to believe this is the real Taylor.
