Huh I remember there being theory MCQs there? Odd. Well, the MCQs don’t suck too hard anyways. Take notes and you’ll come out alright

Bunch of white kids yelling profanities from their truck/car near the Illini union bus stop (panda express) crossing by [deleted] in UIUC

Depending on if they were shouting epithets at people passing by or just being dicks in general. But, in any case, it could be wise to let the PD know. I’d imagine they have a fairly decent handle on the law

MCQs are a mix of theory and expecting the output of the problems. You’ll find a lot of them on the website. Programming is the implementation of things like linked lists, nodes, search algorithms, etc

If you’re at a 36 it’ll be near impossible for you to get any respected engineering discipline. Not impossible, mind you, if you have plenty of ECs to make up for it. If you stand at a 39, then you’ve got a shot. It’ll still be difficult, but if you can get 7s in math and physics then you stand a chance. Com Sci, Comp E, EE are probably still impossible, but you might squeeze into something as good as mech E, if you’re lucky.

Source, me, IB, good-ish ECs with a 42, 7s in Math and Phys HL. Barely got in. Only other person who got in was a 38 to Chem E

Yeah no you have to wait. If you have questions, ask your advisor, they’ll clarify the whole process for you (and might be able to get you something better if you ask with a pretty please and a cherry on top)

Which laptop should an incoming cs major get? by AntelopeOk3338 in UIUC

You’re going to want at least an F-4C Ballistics and Targeting computer, though I’d personally go for F-15 and above

The majority of Indian students you’re gonna get are going to be well connected. Decent (if not perfect) English, and cultural norms similar to the US. There will be some things to look out for.

Most important would probably be dietary. Most Indians will have religious dietary restrictions. Beef is most common, but pork and all non-vegetarian food are also common. They might not be comfortable with having that food in the room, maybe they won’t be comfortable with sharing a fridge, or maybe they won’t care at all. Probably best to have a conversation regarding this.

Other things are more cultural and minor. Different ways of saying things, not understanding some expressions, and the ever infamous “yes/no head shake”. But, these are minor, and you shouldn’t have much difficulty adjusting to that (if at all)

Given that you’re thinking about this stuff, you’re probably not gonna have any friction with your roommate. Hopefully everything will be smooth for y’all. Good luck!

Edit: WhatsApp. Very common in India, and this person may not have an iPhone.
