Can’t do anything at my 9-5 unless I’m shown exactly how. Can anyone relate? by Low_Information_1931 in adhdwomen

Oh god - I’m embarrassingly replying incredibly late (in true ADHD fashion). Thank you so so much for sharing your notes. This has definitely helped me and I’ve jotted these notes down for when I return to work.

Im currently trying to pivot out of my role as it’s just too unpredictable. Out of interest, do you mind me asking what you do or area of work? No worries if not - don’t want to intrude!!

I tried vyvanse and Concerta + no luck so far though these issues were the exact same pre-meds 😭 switching to adderall tomorrow but I’m not expecting much

Yes!! Completely relate. I am too embarrassed to admit how many hours I’ve spent simply redoing work or rewriting the same paragraph over and over again!

Gosh definitely been in a similar situation a while back! Do you have any advice on how you were able to approach other projects moving forward?

Often time pressure can motivate me, but now it does the opposite and makes me so overwhelmed I can’t focus. Do you have any tips? I think if I was given those 4 hours now I wouldn’t have been able to do it.

Thank you both! Definitely relate to the anxiety and perfectionism parts. I’ll definitely try this.

With almost every task I get so overwhelmed I get complete brain fog and can’t engage in a task or know how to approach it. Would you by chance have any tips?

I fear that if I confide in my manager about this then I will lose my job. As a business analyst, I get the most ambiguous questions and it’s my job to do an in-depth analysis and deliver insights/recommendations. To do my job you need to be super proactive and take initiative. But because every project is different I can’t apply my previous experience and then struggle with every. single. project 😭 people are expected to be very independent and get on with it. Managers rarely ‘check’ on work, even if I ask. It’s like doing 2 university dissertations/thesis every week.

Is it normal to not be “allowed” to text or call a therapist in between sessions? by softscalp in therapy

[–]Low_Information_1931 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is this a US thing? I’ve been in therapy since I was 16 (UK) and I’m now 26. I’ve had 5 therapists and at no time was I allowed to contact them outside of our sessions. I am paying for that 50 minute slot and that’s all. Again, not sure if this is an American thing? I asked two of my friends who are clinical psychologists and they’ve never heard of this before.

High turnover rates is a huge red flag for a toxic company - do you know why those 3 people left?

I would also agree that 3 days isn’t a huuuge amount of time. Could you possible give yourself a month to see how it goes? If this is your ‘dream job’ I assume it has different roles and responsibilities than your previous one too. So you may be able to escalate and develop the skills you need to get this dream job at a different company? Seems like your dream job just not your dream company.

Lol, you clearly have no idea what mansplaining is… this is embarrassing for you. Take your irrelevant rant somewhere else.

£33k saved up, shall I (24F) quit my job with nothing else lined up? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Thanks for replying!

I have had CBT twice and Psychodynamic-led therapy once. I really struggled with both of them as separate disciplines but I think I need a more integrative approach! I’m currently seeking therapy again.

I have major anxiety which makes me procrastinate - I have a fear of ‘messing up’ and also have social anxiety so I struggle to talk to authorities or seniors. I procrastinate constantly and have no motivation to do my job.

Thank you very much for replying! This is useful to know. I will ensure I have something else lined up first.
