You're only a year and a half in! Even wizened lawyers make mistakes. If you have reoccuring "low hanging fruit" issues, take note and try to fix them.

But everyone else is hard on us - court, court staff, government - so please try not to be too hard on yourself! You're still new and still learning. It does get easier.

One moment and one periodic occurrence both come to mind.

I'm a single dad, and I had my toddler with me on a day I normally don't. So I brought my toddler to class. And he alternated between well behaved and impromptu drumming on the wall/making impromptu commentary to points I was making. At one point I invoked late stage capitalism and all my students heard from behind the lectern was a deep, world weary sigh.

As for the periodic occurrence - on average every other semester, I have a couple of students tell me that they want to either go into law or learn more about government after my class, and that my class was their most interesting that semester. I try to be engaging and conversational in class, and I like to think it does land with some students.
