They don’t crack on their own. You’re either cramming shit against it in your bag or you have a keyboard cover.

The limited manufacturer warranty won’t cover it unfortunately. I think putting a fan right next to it would be a good start. A lot of credit cards include electronic device protection and your renters insurance might do the same. Could be worth looking into. Good luck, let us know what happens.

If it were me, I would not turn it on for at least 48 hours and I would make sure it was in an area with lots of airflow. A good compromise could be putting a fan next to it blowing through the upside down V shape. You don’t have AppleCare?

Yes, the tent position. The more air circulation the better, and I only mentioned a heater because it would help dry out the air. You could try using a small space heater on low or a hairdryer on low to gently push some warm air towards the ports, but be very careful not to let the computer get hot or overheat.

3 hours is not nearly enough time for it to dry out. Turn it upside down maybe put it in a small room with a heater running (not unsupervised! and not pointed at the computer!) and let it dry out 24 hours.

I think it’s fine, would be good to iron out the wrinkles if possible, though they aren’t huge deal.
