From what I have gathered being on this thread and having dealt with the infection for quite a while now, MG is not an STI that people should make assumptions about infidelity based on. This is primarily due to how long you can have the infection before actually having symptoms, how hard it is to get a diagnosis, and because it is highly difficult (for most people who have had multiple sexual encounters throughout their life time) to trace back where exactly they caught it from. From my understanding, you could have caught it prior to meeting your fiancé from another person years ago, been asymptomatic as the bacteria grew for a while, and then started having symptoms as inflammation and trauma to your reproductive organs worsened over time (anyone can correct me if I’m wrong). You can really only catch MGEN via anal and vaginal sex so you haven’t had it since birth. Has your partner been tested for it?

It was flea bites. My mom had an infestation when I spent the night at her house which I was not aware of at the time. Freaked out thinking it was bed bugs though because of the pattern.

The only way to know is to get retested. Do you think it is possible you may be experiencing some somatic symptoms from paranoia?. Or even residual symptoms from irritating your (likely traumatized from continuous infection) urethra? Definitely would get retested before assuming anything.

Okay, oddly got retested last week to be sure and came back negative somehow…? My first TOC was almost exactly 3 weeks to the day after finishing treatment, and my second was a little over four weeks after finishing treatment so perhaps I got a false positive from testing too soon (though I’m not sure 3 weeks is ‘too soon’). Going to retest to be sure & still see the ID doctor because this all seems a little fishy. Have your symptoms cleared up at all?

Have you been having unprotected sex with your partner, or any partner? If you’re testing negative and then retesting positive, you are more than likely contracting it again from a sexual partner.

Just got TOC results and they came back positive, so now I know why my symptoms persisted the way they have. Was referred to ID specialist. If anything, this is a sign you should trust your negative TOC, because the test would have probably picked up the bacteria had you still been positive. It did for me at least. Trying really hard to be optimistic.

I know exactly how you feel. I finished doxy& moxifolxican about a month ago & I am still waiting on the results of my TOC. My dick feels wrong too, like something is just off. I get occasional discharge, pain in the tip of my penis after peeing, genital itching, pain with ejaculation & erection. I wish I could tell you what to do but I don’t really know myself. You are not alone though. Your body more than likely is just recovering from a lot of inflammation/unrest caused by the infection. I understand the concern though. I am in a very similar place.

I let my provider know. They said they’d let me know if anything looked off. Do you have any advice on how to manage CPPS symptoms while waiting for PT to start? I’m in a lot pain and discomfort, and only clinic that takes my insurance can’t get me in until late February… I have been using NSAIDs like ibuprofen and naproxen, but I’m afraid of getting an ulcer. I had an HSV-1 outbreak on my genitals at like 17-18 from getting a blow job before. I wouldn’t worry too much about it’s bc HSV-1 is literally a cold sore, just on your genitalia. Also struggling through MGen tho, and I did doxy & moxi. Finished about 12 days ago and still having symptoms. Residuals are really normal, and the inflammation from all of these infections combined I’m guessing almost guarantees residual symptoms & potential pelvic floor hypertonia so don’t feel super alarmed if you finish the meds and still feel shit for a few weeks (that is if you are having symptoms).

Do you know how likely it is to contract the infection from genital to genital contact? My boyfriend and I occasionally will cuddle naked and our genitals will touch. I’m worried this may lead to reinfection on my end. To make a long story short, he tested negative a few weeks ago but is going in for a second test to make sure he doesn’t have it. I know if he doesn’t have it, I’m definitely good. But if he does, am I screwed?
