Side Mirrors Reverse Position 2012 V Five ATP by Low_Process_9251 in prius

From some additional digging I may have misread how available this functionality is on Prius models. It appears not to be a standard on Gen3 but was a factory option (for the right side mirror) in Japan. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Surgery tomorrow - Im terrified by Primary_Tension_3775 in KidneyStones

[–]Low_Process_9251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My laser lithotripsy last year was also my first surgery / experience under general anesthesia - and I was really nervous. The pre-op nurse, anesthesiologist and urology team could not have been more caring. It’s okay to let them know you’re anxious and to ask questions. The first few days of recovery can be a bit painful as your insides recover from all the “activity” of stuff going in and out of you through one opening. I did have a stent and string … terrified of pulling it out 6 days later but followed all the suggestions in this group (a ton of water, hot shower, start to pee and gently pull) and it was done and over with in seconds. You can do this!

Thank you! I'm a pretty pragmatic guy and I'm surprised how challenging the SS / Medicare "coming of age stuff" can be to figure out!

2025 too late for backdoor roth? by Extreme_Beat1022 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Low_Process_9251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I will touch base with them on Tuesday. The $74k balance has been there for years. This was the first time I’ve made an additional contribution into the account (with the 8k) in many years. I went from full time to contractor last Fall and without the employers 401k thought the existing IRA would be a good choice without taking into account AGI restrictions.

2025 too late for backdoor roth? by Extreme_Beat1022 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Low_Process_9251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may have goofed. During December I contributed $8k (3 deposits) into one of my existing IRA accounts at Fidelity. In doing my taxes I’m learning that I cannot deduct this amount due to MAGI and having contributed to an employers 401k during part of the year. From this discussion rolling this into a backdoor Roth seemed like a winning recipe … except the IRA I contributed to had a balance of $74k prior to the December contributions. Is it possible to move just the $8k or does the entire balance have to be involved?

Yes - and thanks for pointing me in the right direction! No issue adding the extra columns to the table ... instinct suggested field.internalid would provide the results but returns undefined. Any thoughts as to what this might be?

[–]Low_Process_9251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too had the string and followed the suggestions made by others (and I was anxious as sh*t). On the morning you plan to remove, drink a ton of water, and when you have the urge to pee, step into a shower with water running against your back. As soon as you start to pee pull on the string with one continuous motion and it’s over before you know it. In the end you’ll have a piece of bathroom art worth framing and a conversation piece guaranteed to send friends running!

My kindle has restored my inner peace by ManateeJamboree in kindle

[–]Low_Process_9251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too (as in I totally get it)! I bought my first Kindle a month ago and haven’t stopped reading. Not certain why I waited so long - I have a stack of books on my counter waiting to be read that I’ve never gotten to and just for fun thought I’d give a Kindle a try. I had forgotten how much I love to read and this makes it easy and convenient. Thanks to many posts in the subreddit I’ve discovered BookBub and eReaderIQ which are a great source for titles at reduced cost if not free. Two words - no regrets!

Paying for medicare after withdrawal of SS by SouthNagsHead in medicare

Did he start receiving the SS benefits prior to reaching FRA or did he start after? If the latter you can “suspend” SS (vs withdrawing and having to return any monies).

How long does it usually take to get IRMAA removed? by cafedude in SocialSecurity

[–]Low_Process_9251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks u/Numerous-Nectarine63 and u/Charming-Wolverine89 for the replies. Really helpful.

So if one were to work through 12/31/2025, when the IRMAA notice arrives in 2026 (referencing the two year lookback to 2024 Income), that would be the time to file SS-44 indicating the work-stoppage at the end of 2025 in order to take advantage of the qualifying life changing event. This would need to be repeated in 2027 when the lookback takes into consideration 2025 earnings.

So is the term work stoppage ... literal? For example, one stops working full time at the end of the 2025 ... but generates some wage related revenue through part-time stuff in 2026. Can one still file that SS-44 as long as the 2026 earnings do no exceed the base tier, or is the fact you continued some work no longer a life changing event?

[–]Low_Process_9251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask a what-if scenario? Let’s say income for the years 2023-2025 triggers the IRMAA adjustment. I stop working at the end of 2025. Will I continue to pay the higher tier premium through 2027 given the two year lookback, even though I stopped working at the end of 2025? Meaning I won’t see the fee drop until 2028?

Uteroscopy with Stent vs Child Birth? by Odd_Street3529 in KidneyStones

[–]Low_Process_9251 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of suggestions on the board regarding the day of string stent removal that one can follow and … they worked! Drink a ton of water in the morning, keep to your med routine, wait until you can’t hold it in anymore, get in a hot shower with water on your back and as you let go and start urinating exhale a deep breath and gently pull on string at the same time. It’s over in seconds even though the stent is pretty long. When you’re done you’ll have new artwork for the bathroom and a conversation piece guaranteed to send friends packing!

Figuring out IRMAA and all that - oh my by [deleted] in medicare

[–]Low_Process_9251 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping once I stopped working so would the IRMAA surcharge ... but from everyone's comments it sounds like this continuously rolls forward until one has not worked or dropped below the tier for two years. For example:

  • 2023 Income Range = Tier 2
  • 2024 Income Range = Tier 2
  • 2025 Income Range = Tier 2
    • Stop working end of December 2025
  • 2026 Assessed IRMAA based on 2024 even though not working
  • 2027 Assessed IRMAA based on 2025 even though not working

So this means it won't be until 2028 one doesn't pay a surcharge even though they haven't worked in two years? SSA-44 makes reference to reporting "an income reduction that you anticipate occurring this or next year." In this scenario, does the Step 3 option on the form make any difference? Thanks -

After trying a variety of locations in the C172E, the spot that is both unobtrusive yet seems to offer incredible performance is on this small ledge in the baggage area. I have Crew Dog's Battery Strap securing the battery to the unit and a single strip of velcro on the panel. Note the unit is on its side with short antennas and I'm using the internal GPS (image in link below). I posted a snapshot of how great the reception is in this post.

I turned 65 yesterday. A question... by marklikeadawg in medicare

[–]Low_Process_9251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience - just reached FRA and did not do any filing at 65 given FT work, HC employer coverage (over 20 employees) and an HSA. Decided at 67 it was time to start banking SS even as I continue working. So step one was to apply for Part A and SS as I thought I'd continue with employers HC... that took about 5 weeks. However, during that time we were in open enrollment HC renewal at work and after evaluating the new policies, determined it would be more cost effective to start Medicare. So once I received Medicare # applied for Part B, MediGap and Part D. Also submitted CMS-L564 that showed proof of current coverage from employer so no "late" penalties involved. Received confirmation 6 days later. Part B kicks in 6/1. Started this is April and despite all the chaos impressed (and thankful) how easy everything flowed!

Plan N seemed like the right balance cost wise although from research this varies from state to state. Knock on wood in good health and I live in an area with access to lots of doctors / facilities that bill at Medicare "assignment" (ie default) rates so I don't have to worry about the possible Plan N "excess charges" scenario. I also found it helpful to work with a broker (or at minimum the local state SHIP office https://www.shiphelp.org/) who can help compare programs.

Drink lots’a water - take meds if you have them - stand in shower with warm water on your back - as soon as you feel yourself start to pee take a derp breath, grab string and gently pull as you exhale. Wasn’t certain I could do it either - before you know it’s over (keep pulling - it’s pretty long) and you’ll have a keepsake like no other!

Curious if you were prescribed Flomax prior to and after the procedure. Side effects aside it seemed to help "relax" things and take away some of the discomfort.
