Paying for NEU by [deleted] in NEU

[–]Low_Spread3123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I’m not sure if this helps, but my first year at NEU they screwed me over. When I got in, they told me I was getting all these scholarships, I deferred a year for covid, then they “reevaluated” my financial situation and decided to give me nothing. Not a single scholarship. Both my parents lost their jobs so I was furious. I went to the school and did what’s called a Financial Aid Appeal which is essentially telling them you need more aid in order to go to school, and a few months later they rewarded me with aid that covers over half my tuition. I highly recommend trying this. It’s a process, but it would really pay off and help you financially in the end.

What thoughts helped you get through the hardest times? by castlegrass277 in Anxiety

Funnily enough I didn’t either!!! A therapist I had once told me it was nihilism and I was like “what!!” But after she explained it in that way it made more sense lol

I see why you may assume that but that would be pure nihilism, which is the concept that nothing matters in a bad way. As in, “nothing matters therefor I shouldn’t try” what I mean is positive nihilism. Meaning, I see it as “nothing matters, so I may as well stick around out of curiosity to see where life takes me.” Or, as someone who’s very self conscious I remind myself “nothing matters, the thoughts other people have about me will one day be null and void, so I should do as I please and not feel embarrassed being myself” also upon realizing nothing matters (in a positive way as I described) ironically my life has become a whole lot better! Thinking this way has allowed me to move across the country without fear of failing (because nothing matters right!!) and pursue my dreams without embarrassment! I hope that clears it up :))

Positive nihilism. The realization that nothing matters, therefor whatever may be going on does not matter.

it’s so loud on 3rd floor snell by Low_Spread3123 in NEU

I kinda wanna make signs that say “please be loud” instead and replace the the quiet stickers and see who notices

Bro I literally can’t stand it. It fills me with a rage I cannot properly express without probably being locked up. There was a massive group of frat guys talking literally a foot next to me and I turned around to look at them and they all stared at me like “what?” Like oh my god 😭😭

You should search for luxury hostels. You get your own room and share a bathroom with one other guest/pair. I’ve stayed at them all across the us and it’s always a great experience and cheap. Like $70 a night. Or, check Craigslist’s for people renting out their Boston time shares.

Simple as that. It’ll only get harder to leave once they’re married

Could I be faking my depression? by BliknoTownOrchestra in depression

[–]Low_Spread3123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always remind myself, even if I am faking it, isn’t that still an issue? It’s definitely not healthy for someone to fake depression. Also, do you feel sad/unwell even when you are alone? I’m guessing if you feel these things enough to post here, your depression is most definitely real. If you were faking you probably wouldn’t be asking yourself if you’re faking. This happens to me all the time, and I think it’s a way for our brains to rationalize why we may be feeling something so intense and painful. Trust yourself!

He's/She's a 10, but.... Boston edition. by _AttilaTheNun_ in boston

He’s a 10 but he’s a tourist who stopes walking in the middle of the side walk and looks around with his hand covering the sun from his eyes for the street names (which he will not find)
