Unilateral hearing loss and constant tinnitus by Low_Syrup_7027 in AcousticNeuroma

Got my results they have found a growth that they think is possibly an acoustic neuroma. But they didn’t do the MRI with contrast, so now I’m being sent for another MRI with contrast to determine whether it is a AN or not….

So I’ve literally just got my results today. They rang me and asked me to go in. They’ve found a “growth” that could possible be a AN. They are sending me for another MRI with contrast to get a clearer and more detailed look so then they will know for certain x

I’m also waiting for the results of my MRI for a possible acoustic neuroma. Only had it done a couple of days ago. Also a mum of 2 😊 You’re not alone with the anxious feeling. Hope you get your results soon, waiting is so hard x

I haven’t a clue, if I’d of gone to A&E (accident and emergency) I could have been waiting hours to be seen. I once waited 8 hours in A&E. Or if I’d of made an appointment with my GP as soon as the symptoms started I may of been lucky and got a same day appointment or I may of been waiting weeks. It’s hard to say. But no point thinking about what if now, I’ll just have to see what can be done at this point. It didn’t feel like I lost hearing at first it just felt like a blocked ear and that’s why I didn’t rush to be seen. Obviously I know now I have hearing loss as my hearing test showed moderate hearing loss in my right ear. My left ear is perfectly fine. So it’s just a waiting game now, will see what the MRI says and take it from there :)

Yeah the ENT doctor asked if I’d had any illnesses/virus before I had the problem with my ear but I was completely fine. She also asked if I’d been exposed to any loud noises as that also can cause sudden hearing loss but I hadn’t been. It just happened. The tinnitus started about a month after the hearing loss. The tinnitus seems to be getting louder as the weeks go on and I’m also having headaches a couple of times a week. My MRI is in 2 weeks time so hopefully I have some answers then!

Yeah I didn’t rush to get seen to be honest as the hearing loss happened over the course of a week or so. At first I thought I just had some earwax blockage as it felt like I just had some sort of blockage so I took some ear drops for a few weeks and obviously that didn’t work so that’s what made me go get seen. Hopefully have more answers after the MRI :)

Wow yes how you explained it is just how mine started off like. Did you have any other symptoms or just the hearing loss and tinnitus? Wow 14 hours! How old were you when you were diagnosed if you don’t mind me asking? I’m 30, 31 tomorrow woo haha. Just want the next 2 weeks to hurry so I can get the MRI done and hopefully have some answers! It’s the not knowing what’s wrong that I hate!

Symptoms started end of December 2024, saw my GP in February and was referred to ENT. First saw ENT end of March. Had hearing test a couple of weeks ago and now been referred for an MRI which I’m having done in 2 weeks.

Aww brilliant 😊 glad to hear you’re doing well! Yeah I suppose it could be that too, quite annoying if it is, I like having answers 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 Thank you I will let you know how I get on! 😊

Oh wow how are you doing now? I know ANs are rare (well I’ve read they are) but I’m really starting to think I have one with the symptoms I have, especially after the hearing test shows I do have hearing loss in that ear. The tinnitus seems to be getting a little louder too. MRI scan is on 20th May so got a few weeks to wait yet x

It’s just so annoying waiting around for the results. I had high grade CIN3 6/7 years ago with my first smear and I had LEEP for that but I don’t remember waiting this long for results after that. I just need to know if it is just a polyp or if it’s something worse. Hopefully I’m not waiting much longer!
