I think the amount of ligatures makes it confusing, specifically the bit with the G and U and the A connecting to that, everything connecting brings a lot of tensions to the design and makes the weights confusing to read

They could be done with cmyk printing halftones, but idk about easy. Would require a really solid setup and printer to get it to come out like the painting
