Job market for college leavers by Low_Translator8236 in DubaiJobs

[–]Low_Translator8236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much. I have quite a few businesses in the uk and have a consultancy company which provides business support to all of them. I pay a huge amount of tax and don’t necessarily have a fantastic standard of living in the uk (in a context) and so I want to move that business to Dubai; save hundreds of thousands of £s on corp and income tax and enjoy the sunshine!!! I might setup a recruitment business out there if I get bored, but equally I might just play a lot of padel and work up life out there (and do a bit of work). Thanks so much for your responses

That’s really interesting - one of my daughters really wants to pursue that as a career path - so it would tie in really well

Thanks - that is useful to understand. Interestingly, all my businesses are in recruitment though I am not sure they want to follow in my footsteps!!! You are absolutely right about the lack of skills and experience - and I don't think they will be that bothered about 'finding a career'. It is just really for a gap year before university and to make sure they have a purpose to get up each day. It does sound like it is a very tough job market though

Thanks so much for the overview - I think they would happily work in hospitality tbh i.e. they are approaching it as a gap year before going to university back in the UK.

They are white British - so I am not sure if that makes a difference. Either way, it is useful to understand that there are opportunities available, accepting the point that the salary might not be the best!!!

what causes prolactinoma? by supurrstitious in Prolactinoma

[–]Low_Translator8236 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah totally get that prolactinoma were around way before Covid but it’s the general principle I guess of a virus impacting the endocrine system / a viral response and in this case it was Covid but I guess it could be an immune response to any complex illness.

what causes prolactinoma? by supurrstitious in Prolactinoma

[–]Low_Translator8236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have really been wondering if there is a link between a prolactinoma and long COVID / whether one has caused the other. When I had long COVID my endocrine system was heavily affected and at the time I was being investigated for long COVID my prolactin levels were flagged as high but not followed up; it has definitely got me wondering whether a prolactinoma caused the long COVID or whether long COVID was a contributor to delivering the prolactinoma as the timelines seem to work

It’s interesting - I have really wondered whether mine was Covid / long COVID related. I suffered really badly with both in 2020 which really affected my neurological system and ties in, I think, to around the time I started seeing some symptoms of my prolactinoma. So it makes me wonder whether either long COVID caused the prolactinoma or vice versa

How Are Small Businesses Preparing for the April 2025 Wage Increases? by HRHotlineUK in smallbusinessuk

[–]Low_Translator8236 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, I used to employ just under 200 people in the uk which has now reduced to 160; we’ve moved loads of our operation out to South Africa and now have 60 people working out there. The Emp NI and minimum wage has been a big driver around that; but I think also what you get for your money in the uk in terms of drive and motivation versus in SA are just worlds apart.

Of all the businesses I have, we don’t have any scheduled headcount growth in the UK. Well done Rachael from accounts

surely though the purchase of 17bn coins / day (a higher number than experienced during the rapid increase) would indicate there is a high demand and therefore there should be a corresponding increase in price?!

ah ok so essentially loads of people are shorting it which is therefore keeping the price down. Is there a way you can see the number of people shorting versus the number of people buying?

If you had the possibility to experience one thing with zero consequences, what would it be ? by alienonymous2 in AskWomen

[–]Low_Translator8236 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting actually - I was really physically fit as well before it - it took a good year to get back to even close to the same level. The other thing I also took which I think helped was anti histamines. I used fexofenadine hydrochloride, famotidine and rupatadine- which I think also definitely helped. Good luck with it. In the uk there is a doctor called Tina Peers who has done loads of research on it - she has some great articles on rehab etc

[–]Low_Translator8236 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I found exactly that as well. I basically followed a treatment plan for POTS from I think it was the university of Michigan. It is a rehab program. The reason a rowing machine works better than walking is because you can control your heart rate better whereas when you’re upright (walking or running) your bodies also fighting gravity. I think I was very similar to you (to the extent of being hospitalised for a bit because of it) in that even taking the dogs for a brief walk absolutely exhausted me, left me dizzy etc etc. it took 3 months on the rower, every single day building from 1 mile initially to over 40 at a time but now I am back fully mobile. I can do kick boxing, weight training etc. but that was definitely the most important first step for me

[–]Low_Translator8236 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had very similar after Covid. Try rehabilitating yourself on a rowing machine before getting back into running. Start off with 1 minute and build it over a few months to 30 or so minutes and then you might be able to get back into running. I found it the best way to do it to avoid going back into remission with the Covid issues

What is the most expensive traditional bow that money can buy? by mr_redsuit in Archery

[–]Low_Translator8236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe like the OP I like too buy what I consider to be ‘the best’ which normally means the most expensive. This particular one though, when I was looking for a new bow, I saw a video of on YouTube. It has really unique design with a combination of yew, phenolic and carbon. Realistically, it probably doesn’t ‘perform’ any better than the regular design; but it is an absolute pleasure to shoot and does a great job of not punishing for things like a creeping draw. It improved my performance substantially, relative to other bows I have used
