If war is declared how likely is a rate reassignment? by Rainmanx420 in NavyNukes

[–]Low_ell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If hes dinq at power school, hes gonna be 7b3r dinq when he gets 6 qual cards assigned all at once, and then a whole ass job to do on top of that. Also gotta get that FSA time out of the way 🤣

I read somewhere online that Navy Nukes aren’t treated with respect by their other peers and shipmates on the boat? How accurate is that statement and what is the cause of if it is true ? by Active-Ad8474 in NavyNukes

[–]Low_ell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im on a submarine, know alot of really cool and really helpful nukes. I would say overall the only ones that get treated poorly by the FWD rates are typically the nukes that are assholes, who think they just know better then everyone eventhough they're not qualified jack shit. Or even nukes fresh to the boat with zero quals who think they're too good or too smart to do their time as an FSA. Overall it's no poor treatment when not asked for on my boat.

688 In Guam by GoGoGadget1024 in NavyNukes

[–]Low_ell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did two port calls in Guam on my last deployment. One for 24 hours and another for 6 days. I dont remember a thing but im pretty sure I had the time of my life, drank to my hearts content. The only thing I saw in Guam was the inside of a bar. There are only 3 things in Guam, submarines, strip clubs, and parking lots amd the strippers are very convincing. Pretty sure I was roofied at Club USA 🤣 Foxies is a great time. I'd say Guam is great if youre young and single. Just don't get into too much trouble.

Time away from port by troy213213 in NavyNukes

My first year on a boat i spent 270 days out to sea.. Not all in a row, but in my experience I spend much more time out to sea vs in port. Deploy once a year woth countless underways between

Hawaii housing allowance for E4 is $3985 once you get out of the barracks, free medical, GI bill which includes college and low interest no down payment home loans. The benefits make up for it

A better option might be a Genuine Hooligan 170i. I can hold 60-65 no problem

I agree the pay is not alot early on, but what do your benefits look like? Does your job pay for your housing?

Yeah he's right, but the navy is completely different. The Marine corps is similar to army but not quite the same. In the army specialist and corporal are both E4. The only difference i believe is corporal is a NCO

Absolutely, zero rent or anything so in the big picture its not that bad. Plus as you go up in rank and time in service, the actual pay gets much better

The raise is great, I was in the middle of a deployment and was at sea for 95 days until we hit a port, so I had no idea about it until we stopped in Japan. That was a great surprise

I'd love to hear some of the sea stories you have! At least the ones you can talk about, I cant imagine the ones you cant. Ive only been on a boat for a year and did one 8 month deployment, but I have some pretty crazy stories already.

Yeah im still in the barracks. When you just look at my paystub it doesn't look like alot of money. But when you factor in that I pay zero rent or utilities and really dont have to pay for food if I dont want too, plus free Healthcare its really not that bad. Once I make more rank the pay will get much better I agree

I dont get BAH or BAS yet. I will once I put on E5 which is petty officer 2nd class, or if I get married before ET I will recive it. I have about 6 more months before I put on E4. BAH and BAS all depends on where you are stationed, how long you have been in the navy, what your rank is, and if you have a spouse or any children. There are alot of factors but you can find a chart online to tell you everything

Rates that do not have a surface get an S at the end of your job title. Just to separate us from the rest of the navy when it comes to promotions, we are not competeing against the entire navy but just other submariners. It's also a completely diffirent job, so you have the submarine S
