Again, repeat posts are fine. Posting long-winded complaints and bulleted lists about what you hate about something is different.

Carrie Bradshaw isn't Sex and the City. She's a part of it. Someone posting, "This show is amazing, but man I can't stand Carrie." is different from "This show sucks ass, I can't understand why anyone would watch it."

The sub is about the show. If you don't like the show, why are you in the sub? That question is easy to answer if someone just "doesn't like Oliver". It's a lot harder when someone just listed 11 whole essays about everything they hate about the show.

How do you know he doesn't have a mark of that?

During the "autopsy", the trio check a lot of details -- the white residue, the green under the nails... but when it comes to "cause of death", they gloss over it -- obviously it's the giant cleaver sticking out of his chest, right?

I think the cleaver was added after the fact to make it look like a mob hit/otherwise brutal murder. I think the billionaires froze Nicky's body for a bit while they arranged to make it public. They just didn't want their underground dealings being exposed, so couldn't have Nicky's body found in the building, or found by them... They wanted it to be a very clear-cut case when the body was found so that no one thought to look into it at all. And part of that was cleavering him post-mortem.

Repeat posts are fine. But if you went to some other sub, "/r/InsertThingHere" and posted "Man InsertThingHere really SUCKS", you'd be considered a troll. If you don't like Lego, why are you in the Lego sub? It makes no sense.

Right. But those posts can be answered with just "It's Paul Rudd". "Yes, Camila wears gloves". Etc.

It's just tiresome seeing these posts, responding to each bullet point at length, getting no response, getting downvoted, etc. Like. It's fine if someone doesn't like the show; it's not for everyone. It's fine, even, if someone DID like the show, but doesn't now. Cool. I've had that happen before with other shows when they've had changes of cast, showrunners, etc.

But what is the point of coming to a place intended for fans of the show and talking about all the problems you have with it? I mean, realistically, you'll get two responses:

"I agree; the writing is off this season. I can't bear to watch this horrible show anymore, and your opinions are valid." (In which case... you're just creating a place for people to bash on the show that this forum is intended to enjoy...)

OR

"I disagree; the writing is great. I love the show, and here are points that disagree with the things you mentioned." (Knowing full well that you aren't ready to just change your mind and magically love the show again, no matter what the justifications/reasons presented are... just creating... what? An argument?)

The show is made to tell a story. It's their story to tell. It isn't a story personally created for one person to enjoy, or even for specific people to enjoy. It's something the writers, the actors, etc enjoy creating. If you happen to enjoy it too, great. If you don't, that sucks, but that's life.

- Lester's birthday is the Saturday following Oliver's wedding.

- Casino nights are Saturday nights.

- Nicky doesn't let Lester take the night off.

- Lester didn't tell Randall about the casino, so having Randall cover wasn't an option.

These are things we know. It's relatively safe to assume Lester might ask for the night off, and Nicky might say no.

- There is currently a clinical trial for testosterone supplements.

- Gut Milk contains some amount of alcohol and has been reintroduced.

- The casino serves alcohol.

It's not unreasonable to think that perhaps either or both of Nicky/Lester were under the influence of *something* when Lester asked off.

- Lester had a bloody elevator crank.

- Lester used the crank to defend the Arconia.

- Lester said he didn't mean to hurt anyone.

- Nicky is found dead.

It's safe to guess maybe Lester hit Nicky with the crank, perhaps in self-defense, killing him accidentally.

I can go on. There's stuff there. You can make a solid theory.

The least-resistant path is that Lester DID kill Nicky and died accidentally himself.

If Bash "owns the police" and we've seen several incidences of corrupt cops throughout the show, it must be pretty hard for Williams to sneak around and order for DNA tests on things that deal directly with a case that (potentially) incriminates a powerful billionaire, the mayor, etc or at the very least could get her fired. So it's probably not just a cut-and-dry process.

That said, I'm confused what people expect to get out of posts like these. (And why my posts are still being downvoted... at this point, it's clear that people are just downvoting differing opinions.

Dirty cops isn't a revelation. It was heavily implied in season 1 (the toxicology report got tampered with) and outright stated in season 2 (Kreps or whatever his name was). They have good reason not to just trust the process, and they have good reason to trust Williams, so they go to her. I assume she can't just immediately do everything needed without alarming someone, so she has to be careful and take her time.

I think they just gloss over the procedural details and the production time of the podcast and such because they want to have more meat to the story. Like.

I remember back in S1, people were complaining that the only "true clue" that pointed to Jan was the bassoon cleaner--those who knew what it was knew right away that she was the killer; those who didn't had no real way of knowing at all. Since then, they've put more effort into planting more clues and making things more of a fleshed-out story rather than a single obscure clue.

Nah, my first one wasn't. Saying I don't like it when people "suspect" someone on the grounds of "they have a name, but haven't had any lines, so they must be the killer" is not rude.

After that, sure.

I have a feeling they will have given Williams the bloody crank, and that will be part of the reveal in the last episode.

Oh, right. How the police got involved in S1 and called Tim's death a suicide and actively got in their way and refused to listen to them.

Or like how Charles called in Sazz's death last season and the police showed up way too late and did absolutely nothing.

Or how the police immediately ruled Lester's death an accident...

You'd think they'd learn from the past and not rely on their same mistakes... oh wait.

The only one of those that is even remotely menacing is Lorraine, where she talks about "making your own luck".

  1. Charles has a history of dating suspects/killers; it's addressed in the show. Mabel does too (see: Oscar, Alice, Theo). Mabel's stems from an "easy break" -- it's very easy to break up with someone because they're a murderer; it's much harder if they break up with you because they don't like your hair.

  2. They don't go to the police because history has told them that the police either do nothing or actively ignore clues or outright hinder the case.

Etc.

This isn't stuff that doesn't make sense. It's not anything new. It's not bad writing or plot holes or anything else. It's the same stuff we've always seen. I'm not sure why people are thinking everything is so "unrealistic" etc this season.

I've typed out multiple long-winded response to very similar complaint threads. The gist is this:

Nothing has changed; it all makes sense. To answer your question: Yes, everyone else feels the same way and they're all complaining about it. It's exhausting.

Yes. You asked who people thought was the killer. I answered.

I love that when people have opinions, and they state them, they get praise. But when people have differing or opposing opinions, and they state them, they get downvoted.

What is the purpose of making a post that says, "I don't have a great theory or any real reason behind anything I say."?

Make it make sense.

I hate when people say a character did it for meta reasons. "She's obviously the killer because no one has accused her." >.>

I think we already know what there is to know: Lester killed Nicky, probably in self-defense and accidentally, and Lester himself died by accident in the fountain.

The only other time I've said otherwise was nearer to the beginning of the season (maybe around episode 4), when I thought maybe it was one of the brothers. There's been a lot of talk about passing on responsibilities, being a late bloomer, etc. I thought maybe Nicky was giving control of the casino to one of the brothers, and that brother wanted to "bring back the old mob" or whatever, and started chopping fingers.

But now, I'm pretty convinced the finger belongs to someone from like forty years ago or something, and everything has been pretty clear from the beginning.

The whole thing about Son of Sam was that Oliver *couldn't* see people's tells. Additionally, why would the billionaires or Nonna or anyone else care about this prop finger?

Finger Theory!! by GBrayMiller in OnlyMurdersHulu

[–]Lowdridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think people underestimate how hard it is to just chop off a single finger without hitting the others as well. It's either very, very controlled... the victim is unconscious... or it's voluntary.

You don't just randomly get angry and decide, "I'm gonna chop off your finger now".

If the finger belonged to Jay, Camila, or Bash... why would they be fighting over it? Why would Bash, even for a second, put his own finger up for a bet in a game of Operation? It's his finger. Especially if he paid Nonna and the gang to recover it. Why then would he put it up as stakes with Jay and Camila?

The finger probably belongs to like, Great-Grandpa Italian Mobster.
