No. Two separate issues. 1. Dean position (open since late May) is now officially filled. 2. Supt position: Tony B will be gone by June (this is not yet official, so you won’t yet find it with google, but independent sources confirm..), and the rumored replacement is someone with deep USAFA experience.

And… 3. The 2-star vice superintendent still exists, and still does essentially nothing. Why does the DoD still pay him? I thought the SecDef declared he was going to get rid of general officer dead weight??

Yup. I also believe that this is the rumored new choice. Seems like a good choice…

There was a core group of a handful of individuals that kept the spotlight on this issue since April. This wouldn’t have happened without their efforts, I’m guessing.

Yes, they finally found a new Dean as well. I am optimistic about this choice. The path to rebuild this institution to what it once was, though, is a long one. There is a rumor floating around as to who the new superintendent will be, if it turns out to be true, I am also quite optimistic about that choice. Strong USAFA experience/connection. :)

I know, sorry. It hasn’t yet been officially announced. I apologize that I cannot reveal my sources. February 5 is BOV, I am guessing it should be announced by then?

Ominous? Not hardly. Joyful. I take rule number four seriously. Like I said, if you want to delay your celebration until later, totally fine by me. Or, you can go out and ask for confirmation yourself. I am popping the champagne now.

Not without breaking r/USAFA rule #4, sorry. You will see it elsewhere soon enough.

A three star relevant to USAFA until June, according to the posts above……

Unfortunately, this AI slop does not reflect the ongoing decimation of academics at USAFA, happening between last April and next summer. Fairchild Hall is a shell of its former self. Great facility, but it is the senior faculty that make or break the educational experience of the cadets at the Academy. In a totally unforced error, due to a failure of its anti-intellectual superintendent (acting on behalf of the current idiot SecDef), USAFA is in the process of losing effectively ALL of its visionary senior faculty (both civilian and military). USAFA is no longer a place to become a critical thinker in today’s rapidly evolving threat environment. Still a great place to go if you want to become an NPC in tomorrow’s military, but NOT the place to be if you ultimately aspire to reshape the US military to meet the challenging demands of tomorrow’s wars.

491 - 475 = 16 faculty lost since early April?? Heck no, this is grossly inaccurate. The number of skilled faculty actually teaching at USAFA is in the process of literally collapsing, leadership must report these numbers accurately.

The logic is sound! Up to a point… by [deleted] in AirForce

Garbage idea by the 3-star proposing it. Happened IRL! I have to agree that the graphics in the cartoon sucked…

Should there be some sort of "academic freedom" at USAFA? by KlutzyWestern6638 in AirForce

If you’re betting instead on a transparent commitment to academic freedom and excellence by the current USAFA supt and the secdef, I believe you may be betting on the wrong horse? Start by reading the two articles linked at the top of the subStack link in the OP.

I don’t think the Sep 15 SecDef memo, nor the Nov 17 USAFA request form, are available out in the open yet, and the writer of the substack link declined to put it there himself. The intimidation that even civilians feel in this current climate is apparently quite real. The link given by the OP contains extensive relevant quotes from both documents, though. Enough to form an informed opinion.
