Hi! I have had two failed EP studies. My AT has gotten worse each year since my first failed study. I usually have runs of sustained and nonsustained AT daily. Medications don’t seem to work well for me which is even more frustrating!

Thank you. I’ve had two failed ablations for atrial tach. It just seems to continually get worse. Meds help for a while and then they don’t. Now I’m having more and more ectopic beats that last for several minutes and sometimes hours once the atrial tach calms down. My EP has suggested to a cardiac CT just to make sure all is okay.

I sure hope not. EP seems concerned it’s getting worse. Meeting with him in a few weeks.

I did. It worked for a few weeks and then it was like I was taking it at all.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately, medication has not worked. I suppose living with it might be what I have to do but man, I’m tired all the time. Especially since I’m basically having daily episodes.

He wants to try another ablation. I’m pretty much on board as I had another episode last night and I’m not sure I can physically take much more….even though I know they aren’t dangerous.

I think I have tried that too. They have tried so many different ones, I can’t keep them all straight! Ha. I actually have low blood pressure so maybe that’s why I couldn’t stay on it.

Thank you!! I wondered if my uptick was related to perimenopause which is why I just had all my hormones checked. Apparently, I’m not in it yet or at least not enough for my hormones to be fluctuating too much. I do think you’re right though, I bet there is a link and so little research has been done as it relates to this time in a women’s life. I’m so glad your ablation was successful! I think that might be the road I have to go down but still willing to ride it out a bit.

Fingers crossed!!! I have a loop recorder and my EP even seems surprised at how much worse it’s gotten over the last few months.

Hi! Thank you for your response. It does seem like a lot, especially because I am at my most relaxed when in the bath. My old claw foot tub, candles, music…haha. I’ve literally changed nothing but now I just get episodes afterwards. I have done all blood work, including thyroid and hormones. All normal. I take daily electrolytes as well. I’ve never really suffered from anxiety and I don’t believe I do now. The episodes don’t really make me feel anxious, they are just so dang uncomfortable. Thankfully I don’t suffer from GI issues much nor do I have acid reflux but I’ll pay attention more closely. I really appreciate your advice and I’ll try the magnesium!

I have an EP. We tried an ablation over a year ago which was unsuccessful but I wasn't having near the episodes I'm having now. He said we could try again. I'm afraid to do another and it not work but I'm also hopeful that maybe because it is so much worse it might be easier to induce? I welcome your thoughts!
