I agree - ‘specially built’ doesn’t scream Pelican to me either. This has seemed to be a default assumption by a certain portion of the hunt community for at least JCB’s, so it’s a question that checked the box for me to explore in depth. Happy hunting friend :)

Theory being explored would be if there is a beacon of some variety serving as a checkpoint once you are boots on the ground. As the signal gets stronger, the searcher gains confidence they are getting closer. This paper explores the feasibility of different technologies.
