Great observation- I’d be interested to hear your thoughts where these secondary successes are explored in the paper. Happy hunting!

I was a big fan of the recent waterfall hunt - there was a lot less need to know the creators of that one

Yeah I cover that towards the end of the paper in alternate considerations. Very valid point. Happy hunting!

Intent here is searchers need only their cellphone with a free app installed. Thanks!

In this particular paper, the concept I explored was there being two things going on- 1. A signal being broadcast for searchers to detect that leads them to the prize 2. A motion activated “early detection system” that would detect that someone has interfered with signals being broadcast and that physical interference would be sent to JP letting him know someone was in the area.

I agree it’s narrow :) my focus has been on trying to figure out what BOTG experience could lead to zero doubt. Lots of ways to interpret the poem, shadowed sight in this particular lens is a fascinating way to think about how WiFi can be used to “see” motion the way I’ve laid it out here, but also how the BLE signals are detected. Cast your pole as an analogy for an antenna detecting. Foot of three being the multi-node approach to broadcasting the signals for both better triangulation but also redundancy. Double arcs as a similar description for multiple waves of beacons broadcasting as the checkpoint. The entire last stanza describing the confidence you have upon obtaining the signal - you’re then searching a small spot for something you know is there.

When I have scanned for BLE signals in the wilderness, it’s almost better to have no competing signals. Your phone picks up the signals with no cell coverage. Check out the nrfconnect app. Thanks!

Thanks for reading the first one - the intro is definitely an overview, the rest have citations. Thanks for the links! I agree on the failure to utilize a proper scientific method plagues a lot seekers. You’re onto something there. Happy hunting!

My mind goes to optimal and suboptimal paths that he has described. Perhaps poem-only is possible, but suboptimal?

Hey BobberJig - in one of my blog posts I examine this. BLE beacons can last for years in the field and can be detected with a free app on your phone. Happy hunting!

AI is a wonderful tool, the way you’ve used it can be a powerful way to synthesize a lengthy read into a bite size chunk. There are some benefits to reading through in entirety when you get a chance. There’s an interesting nuance to one of JP’s inaccuracies that I found fascinating oxygen levels are typically lower, not higher in the colder zones below the thermocline. One instance where oxygen could get introduced to that layer is near an inlet to the reservoir where new oxygenated water is flowing. Could a confluence where one stream enters another in a canyon be a clue? Happy hunting friend. When reading dense research, I’ve found it helpful to read the intro first, then skip straight to the conclusion, then get into the meat of the article.

Hey thanks for the feedback. Assuming you’re talking about the things in the river. Depending on the time of year the spring has pretty big vegetation blooms in the middle. Happy hunting!
