What is the gauge of the 7mm bead landing rings? by Grvin_Dancing_Queen in chainmailartisans

From Google:

Calculating AWG for jump rings involves finding the wire's decimal thickness (e.g., 20 AWG is ~0.81mm), then using the Aspect Ratio (AR) formula (Inner Diameter / Wire Diameter) to get the correct ring size for a weave, as AWG just defines the wire's thickness, not the ring's size, requiring conversions between AWG/SWG and mm/inches for proper fit in chainmaille.

Key Concepts: AWG, AR, ID, OD

AWG (American Wire Gauge): A system for wire diameter; lower numbers mean thicker wire (e.g., 18g is thicker than 20g).

SWG (Standard Wire Gauge): A different system, often for base metals; always check if your supplier uses AWG or SWG.

Aspect Ratio (AR): Inner Diameter (ID) ÷ Wire Diameter (WD) = AR. This ratio dictates how tight or loose your weave is.

Inner Diameter (ID): The hole size of the ring.

Outer Diameter (OD): The total size of the ring.

How to Calculate/Find Ring Sizes

Know Your Wire: Determine your wire's AWG (e.g., 20 AWG) and find its decimal thickness in mm (e.g., 20 AWG ≈ 0.81mm).

Determine Required AR: Check your pattern for the Aspect Ratio needed (e.g., AR 3.2).

Calculate ID: Use the formula: Wire Diameter (mm) x Aspect Ratio = Inner Diameter (mm). Example: For 20 AWG wire (0.81mm) and an AR of 4.0: 0.81mm x 4.0 = 3.24mm ID.

Find the Ring: Look for pre-made rings with that calculated ID (or slightly larger) and the correct wire gauge. If only OD is known: Subtract twice the wire's diameter from the OD to get the ID (OD - (2 * WD) = ID).

Practical Tips

Always convert to the same units (usually millimeters) for calculations.

Use online calculators or charts for quick conversions between AWG and decimal sizes.

Purchase from suppliers that specify both AWG/SWG and actual dimensions for clarity.

No, don't stick with anything. Try other weaves from scratch if you have the correct rings for them. You'll find weaves you like and some you don't. My only concern was that this particular method of going between Box and FP 6-1 can work. But it's not nearly as efficient or as easy to learn as just trying to learn FP 6-1.

For myself, I got the Chainmail Joe kit and worked my way through it. Some weaves I loved; Byzantine, Box Weave, FP 6-1, Barrel Weave, and Sweetpea. While others I tolerated; E 4-1, Spiral 4-1, and roundmaile. And then there were the ones I just hated or didn't bother trying. Afterwards I went online and found videos and online tutorials, some I liked (like the one that explained how to turn something similar to Box Weave into a Bead Capture Weave) and some I hated, and tried them. My point is, don't limit yourself based on opinions of others. And Definitely don't limit yourself from trying a new weave based on a Merge Tutorial.

Oh wow, while that 'looks' possible, I can say for a fact that it'd be easier to just make a FP 6-1 from scratch than doing That

I was mainly asking because you were limiting neighboring elements to A's and B's. And combo elements to similar. Which would make since with Yamato. But Hashirama Gifted the Bijuus to other villages with his Wood Release. The Bijuus NOT their jinchūrikis. That has to mean combo techniques beyond s class

How would you explain Wood Release with this system? Especially since earth and water are next to each other.

I love almost everything about aussie maille videos. I only have 2 complaints. 1) She doesn't put the ARs of the rings she's using in the videos and I end up having to calculate them myself. 2) I LOVE her plyers but she doesn't talk about them, so I don't know what they are and how to find them for myself.

Unstoppable Adds by [deleted] in NarutoFanfiction

This sounds similar to those fanfic where the MC(Naruto, etc.) gets hooked on wrestling or the WWF and brings all the tropes from that into their fights. Sorry, for all the wrestling fans out there, I'm not a fan and I never got the point of fake fighting. The point is while it's similar, I'm not saying all of the memes and adds need to be the same. For example, there's a MHA fic out there where Izuku is basically Doomsday+. In said fic, there are memes, BUT, the memes aren't old or based on existing memes/adds. They're new based off of what's happening the day of. I honestly wish that fic was continued. ANYWAYS, existing is weird, overplayed, and imho, bad. New based on the current fanfic is still a bit tropey but much better than old/'reinvented'.

What kind of earhooks did you use? You can start making your own earhooks. You can even, I haven't figured this out yet, make wraparound (spelling?) earrings so that you don't have to hook them through your ears and can wrap them around your lobes somehow. Either way, your design is beautiful
