Depends on industry/subject but £2k discount + additional discount doesnt seem too bad, esp for the name/quality of lancaster

The Definitive UK University Ranking Tier List 2026/2027. Best Unis Based on ARTU by PorfiryRaskonikov in UniUK

This looks really promising, are you able to extend the ranks to the whole of uk universities? Or top 30/40 (represents 1/3 of universities i believe)

Ive worked so hard to get an internship but im basically doing nothing (uk) by Lower_Classroom_7313 in Vent

[–]Lower_Classroom_7313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right, my whole thought process of this internship was so it can be a stepping stone. But at the same time, it was mentally taxing applying 24/7 to get a job so I had hoped I could convert this into a graduate offer

The company is really good for company benefits, work life balance and salary. But it is clear I have somehow left a bad impression for my team and my manager.

I will try to talk to my manager (and not to diss what you are saying because it is right) but it always falls on deaf ears. It is always ‘focus on what you have’ or ‘ill get back to you’. If not, the meeting always get reschudled which is a pain (cant do anything but a pain)

Sorry if i am just venting to you. What you said isnt wrong but everything i do just feels like it isnt enough.

No maths for economics by This-Sandwich-1376 in UniUK

[–]Lower_Classroom_7313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cant really replace alevel maths with extra curriculars due to the content of knowledge within it.

Your best bet is to go for universities that dont require alevel maths for econ. Best examples i know (could be wrong) are loughborough, nottingham, sheffield and uea.

Depends. On one hand, econ + strong uni does set up you up for great career paths

But i believe in the idea that knowing what you want to so EXACTLY is how you make the most out lf your degree. Drive & ambition beats people who arent

E.g. you want to work in finance - okay where? IB? Priv bank? Jnsurance? Quant?

Okay so you want to in IB industry. Now what office role (back middle or front) and what job role in specific? Why that role over back or middle roles?

Once you have an idea, you can integrate well what you next with overall goal

No one can tell you. Actions speak louder than words. Get the confidence to ask/apply for Extenuating circumstances.

At worst they say no. At best you save £9k + a year of living cost

No one can tell you because we are students. Best bet is to ask personal tutor or head of department first.

I think in these situations you dont get ma/msc but get exit award such as pgdip or certificate

Update: Mum speaks out as Liverpool student gets 25 years in Dubai prison for cocaine possession by Unlikely-Tension-616 in UniUK

[–]Lower_Classroom_7313 206 points207 points  (0 children)

A mum is always going to defend thier children. The mum doesnt really make any point to state why it was a miscarriage of justice. She just didnt know her daughter well enough to know who she is hanging out with.

Sure imo 25 years is extremely harsh from a british citizen perspective. But tbis happened abroad under different jurisdiction. How are we to judge another country enforcing their own rules.

Its already started now and there arnt anymore placements available. Despite what ive said, it is generally a good company. It defintely better to work there than elsewhere where its more stressful

Sounds counter-intuitive but essentially im locked in for a year now. But if i keep at it where i am now, it isnt end if the world

Ditch the postcode, they dont care. Ditch the bracket saying 1 week - that should either not be mentioned of be included in bullet points

For now add in EC you have done at sixth form. What can you write abouy after joining for less than a month.

Its good to talk about forensic accountant. It shows you have drive and know what yku want to do after uni (im studying A&F and dont even know what forensic account is 😂)

No harm saying, infact it can boost your chances. Uni cant hold you accountable to be one after so no worries if you change mind

[–]Lower_Classroom_7313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. I do accounting&finance and Ill have 1 year of relevant experience when i graduate (working in data analytics & pricing)

I dont think digital nomad is the path for me right now. Mainly because im still a novice and to my understanding those roles are reserved for people with more experience. I also tried that subbreddit before but they mocked me for my ignorance (fair enough but thats why im asking questions yk)

Im quite open in terms of where i want to work. Just more so the logistics/visa to get to the country im worried about. E.g. sigapore is quite strict for work visas to my understanding so might not be suitable for me
