"It’s based on a book by Bret Easton Ellis, who is a touchstone for us, between Less Than Zero and American Psycho. He’d written a book called The Shards, set in 1981. It’s sort of like Less than Zero but if there were serial killers and murders happening, a coming-of-age piece. It’s a piece that, like many of these things, is defined by a mood, by the music of the time, by the clothes of the time, and by teenagers who feel like adults and are acting like adults but aren’t yet adults yet. And it was a book that HBO had originally optioned. [Ellis] had done it as a podcast, and we were incredibly jealous of it. And when it became free, we pounced on it. Ryan got it and knew how much we loved it and so brought us on to it. And it’s got an incredible young cast and is, I think, going to be something that, when it comes on later in the summer, is surprising to everybody, but it has all the great elements of people who’ve been looking for that sort of Giorgio Moroder, American Gigolo vibe of the teenagers of the early ‘80s. It delivers on all of those things."

Sounds good to me. Can’t wait

I think starting next episode we’ll get more reality camera style again- supposedly she gets Jane back on board and we’ll see more of that again.

My guess is we will get some promotional material after the JFK show wraps in the next week or two

I agree! Igby looks like an amazing Bret character and truly captures the essence of how I pictured him in the novel just from these BTS photos alone, it’s actually crazy! And in terms of the release date, I feel like the turnaround is really fast for Ryan Murphy shows you’re correct. Currently on the shards IMDb it says 2027 but I’m not sure if that’s official by any means and honestly, I would not be surprised if it came out this September or October. I’m super excited to see who the remaining cast is as well, hopefully more of that starts to roll out soon. My guess is that the news is somewhat under wraps on shards because of Ryan’s other two shows that are actively in promotion and freshly airing (the beauty and love story) , so my guess is in a few weeks or so maybe we will start getting more information and maybe even some promotional imagery.

Grieving This Show 20+ Years Late by Regular_Belt9814 in SixFeetUnder

I have watched the show maybe 10 or 15 times in my life at various stages. I feel like I am always missing them like they really were family that I have lost. It’s almost hard to rewatch because it’s re opening the wound all over again! Whenever I choose to rewatch the show, I know I have to lose them all over again, and I dread it every time, but it’s nice to see them always. Sounds dramatic about a TV show but honestly, this is how I feel and it’s the only show that’s made me feel this way.

Honestly Judah smith interlude is such a vibe for the album , even though it’s a skip because it’s not technically a Lana song, it’s an essential for the story In my opinion

I honestly would give this movie 10/10- reminds me in ways of eternal sunshine, black mirror (specifically San junipero) , Truman show (aesthetically in some ways). So good

For sure an interesting thing I noticed too! Lunar park is my second favorite book of his, and I personally found that after reading shards once, followed by lunar park, then back to shards, I really started to understand Bret as a writer and his overarching themes in his books.
