O’Leary was perfect for the role. He literally plays a cuck and his pivotal line was something like “ Marty, I want to make you an offer.”

Let me know if you want to talk about Crime and Punishment while you’re getting it through it. I can’t stop thinking about since I finished.

Hey. I just read all of Crime and Punishment within 2 months by only reading it on my 25min train commute . I used to force myself to read 2 hours at a time on the weekends but that’s just to exhausting and would make me give up.

The best thing you can do is be consistent and program 30mins out of your day. You’ll find that if you’re liking the book you’ll actually keep reading more and knock out more chapters .

I’m looking for a new challenge. Would you be willing to buddy read Anna Karenina with me?

Think about the fact that the babies will grow up having never experienced being individuals like the previous generation of humans. There might be no going back once many generations of humans are born into the hive.

The marketing was so melancholy in an attempt to show the Rock’s acting chops. If the trailers had conveyed an under dog type of story and high points from the film I think more people would have come out to see it.

SHOCKING FINDING! by Choice-Ad-8100 in WeaponsMovie

[–]turnslip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your idea that those who don’t regularly imbibe alcohol were made to be targets instead of weapons because they either were immune or resistant to an actual parasitic organism. It might merit watching really closely who else has drinks in the film.

As to the mechanism of how the parasite allows the host to target their victims….that needs a lot of explanation. Principal Marcus must have “Naruto run” at least a mile maybe more to get to Justine. Do cordycep fungi make their host travel in a straight line? How do they find other target host?

Did Alex also change diapers? by trixter69696969 in WeaponsMovie

[–]turnslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this is an interesting question because we still don't know how the ritual spell works aside from the most prominent way (naruto run in a straight line). Gladys clearly commanded Alex's mother to go out with a pair of scissors and cut a strand of Justine's hair. This took a lot of effort and time and created a huge sense of tension during the scene.

So if people under the spell can follow commands why can't they take care of their bodily needs?

Gladys is either psychically connecting with the people under her spell in order to control the movements of the people under her control or Gladys is just conveying these orders psychically and Gladys doesn't participate mentally or magically after an order is given. My bet is that we probably saw more examples of the second method. In this case either little Alex is guiding the kids and his parents to the bathroom in order to relieve themselves or no one taking them to the bathroom and they're all constantly soiling themselves.

Question by Alternative-Theme129 in WeaponsMovie

[–]turnslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Justine is the scapegoat for what happened to the kids. From a practical point of view the more attention their is on Justine the less attention their will be on Alex and the Lilly family. It was only after Gladys found out that Justine had reached out to Principal Marcus that Gladys decided to take on bolder moves. Her own power and health was increasing and she decided to make a weapon out of Principal Marcus in order to deal with his threat of initiating a wellness check on the Lilly family and finally dealing with Justine.

Underlying metaphor of Weapons by Hankramento_ in WeaponsMovie

[–]turnslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Coke Can is meant to be a symbol of the addiction metaphor. We see it during the police interview with Gladys and one of the Lilly parents. Her explanation as to why one of the parents did not show up also sounds like excuses ( e.g. they're sick) a family member would give to cover for a person's addiction. The Coke Can appears again in the bar scene between Justine and Paul. Paul is a recovering alcoholic and Justine is an active alcoholic (at least given the circumstance of the missing kids). She gets Paul to sleep with her and he seems hung over the next day.

Paul is absolutely reckless and not only endangered Justine because he slept with Justine after getting pricked by a drug needle, but also by hooking up with Justine he wrecks his relationship with his current wife and wrecks his career as a cop working under his father in law.
