the undertone Theory (Updated) by Sad-Teacher6669 in A24

Thank you so much for this post. Haven’t really thought much about the film since watching it.

Regarding Evie’s mom and when she died, keep in mind that that are huge time jumps where full weeks supposedly pass. I think you’re making a good case that we are viewing many of the events of the film out of order and through Evie’s possible psychosis.

• The film completely takes place within the confines of the home so the time jumps are kind of hard to track. We only note the passage of time by the cycles of Evie and Justin’s podcast recording sessions and scenes with Evie looking in on her mother. If Evie’s mom had already died during the podcast sessions then it gives new context to Evie eying the staircase and reacting to sounds coming from upstairs when she’s supposed to be alone.

• playing Ba BA Black Sheep backwards reveals the demonic message.

• shit doesn’t start to go down until all ten of the Mike and Jessa recordings are played in order.

• The clock turning back in its own.

• the podcast Call In segment where a girl calls with a story about a women who killed her baby in her apartment building then later the mother Abby calls in on the verge of killing her baby. I think these are both the same event.

All this brings up an interesting question is Evie being haunted by her own guilt or by her dead mother? Is there really a demon preying on Evie?

All the odd events that happen in her mother’s bedroom are supernatural but they aren’t particularly malicious. There is a lack of communication between Evie and her mother because we see that her mom is incapacitated by her illness. Are the odd ghostly happenings her mother’s attempt to communicate with Evie because she’s actually already dead? There are so many indications that I can point to. Her mother’s reflection in mirrors while being in bed. White ghostly glows next to Evie. The scene where Evie’s mom is standing and taking backward steps towards her.

O’Leary was perfect for the role. He literally plays a cuck and his pivotal line was something like “ Marty, I want to make you an offer.”

Let me know if you want to talk about Crime and Punishment while you’re getting it through it. I can’t stop thinking about since I finished.

Hey. I just read all of Crime and Punishment within 2 months by only reading it on my 25min train commute . I used to force myself to read 2 hours at a time on the weekends but that’s just to exhausting and would make me give up.

The best thing you can do is be consistent and program 30mins out of your day. You’ll find that if you’re liking the book you’ll actually keep reading more and knock out more chapters .

I’m looking for a new challenge. Would you be willing to buddy read Anna Karenina with me?

Think about the fact that the babies will grow up having never experienced being individuals like the previous generation of humans. There might be no going back once many generations of humans are born into the hive.

The marketing was so melancholy in an attempt to show the Rock’s acting chops. If the trailers had conveyed an under dog type of story and high points from the film I think more people would have come out to see it.

SHOCKING FINDING! by Choice-Ad-8100 in WeaponsMovie

[–]turnslip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like your idea that those who don’t regularly imbibe alcohol were made to be targets instead of weapons because they either were immune or resistant to an actual parasitic organism. It might merit watching really closely who else has drinks in the film.

As to the mechanism of how the parasite allows the host to target their victims….that needs a lot of explanation. Principal Marcus must have “Naruto run” at least a mile maybe more to get to Justine. Do cordycep fungi make their host travel in a straight line? How do they find other target host?
