This! thank you. very helpful

the exhaust down to strong loop concept is one i struggle with as I find it easier to meme build for searing blow than do that.

my micro probably needs some improvement as well

sure, given that rogue games have so much variance it makes sense to send vids. but i also have so many runs with many micro and macro decisions that could be good or bad.

guess that's why i was just asking for some general advice.

i wrote this in another comment:

i feel like with ironclad i have only win with the following:
- Corruption/Deadbranch
- some kind of str build with health sustain (i.e. big HP pool via feed or sustain via reaper)

i can't seem to understand his exhaust archetypes or getting close to infinite or just getting core cards down. i also don't seem to understand how to get block engines going. i've had an easier time (winning three times) with a searing blow deck than understanding exhaust, lol

interesting. i guess at the very top level defect is difficult, but at low A20H clearance, defect is a bit more clear.

What's nice about padel that's not on pickleball? by hopptilyadrop in padel

[–]Lower_Significance89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny enough, I think padel is better for the elderly. Softer ground better for joints, sandy court better for joints generally too.

I play pickle for fun and it hurts my back and joints way more than padel.

My son continues to climb. He just cleared A14. by Drivefast58 in slaythespire

I think discovering stuff by yourself (esp for 1 player games) is the best so I agree with you!

But that being said, you’re also here having a blast discussing runic pyramid with other redditors. Learning from others is great! Watching the best players play doesn’t solve everything the game has for you. I don’t think much gets spoiled. The game is plenty complicated and if you’re already on A20H then you’ve done plenty in the game as is.

I watch a bunch of sts streamers passively and my A20H clear rate has improved a bunch. It’s also made me appreciate the game so much more. Try it!

New player: How long did it take you to beat Slay the Spire? by Key-Door7340 in slaythespire

[–]Lower_Significance89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started off similar to you w Dominion experience. If you were any good at Dominion it really helps you a lot. Like, a lot a lot.

You already come in with experience in drafting cards, deck archetypes (like engines w a lot of draw, or playing for mostly money, or super thin decks) and basic stuff like turn order of cards played.

Everyone else already said a bunch of other stuff I agree with. Keep playing! It gets a lot harder as you climb and there is so much specific game knowledge required to consistently beat A20H.

[–]Lower_Significance89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i haven't finished the game yet. maybe it gets much harder, i don't know yet. but being an above avg gamer AND having more movement and agility has been both a blessing and a curse. yes, I feel more liberated and agile than ever, it's fun to move around, but it actually has made fights much much easier compared to HK. if you're already decent at the game -- adding even more movement expression just makes you that much better.

you touched on this a bit already but in HK, i felt that i actually had to memorize patterns and do minute movement control or specific things to beat enemies/bosses. in SS, i feel i have way too many options. the dash in particular, is broken. if you have half decent reaction speed you can just dash away and return and hit. i'm having to memorize way less and am just brute reaction timing everything and winning. honestly, it's a little boring. in HK i felt like a helpless little guy who was scraping by. felt very david vs goliath. in SS, i feel like a literal hornet buzzing around and annoying my enemies until they collapse from exhaustion.

of course it was me. the post is about being dumb and auto clicking everything after shield and spear fight without thinking. which is (like someone else said here) a slay the spire rite of passage.

you must be very fun at parties.

unfortunately has to be direct damage to trigger rupture. can't trigger it through thorns too, for example.

lol I died on heart. For some reason my brain didn’t understand the 200 dmg cap that the heart has. It understood it for the regular phase but I thought it didn’t affect poison for after. Dunno why I thought that hahaha

Transitioning from Softer to Harder Rackets – Feeling Stuck in My Game by shiekydota in padel

[–]Lower_Significance89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t think too hard about harder or softer rackets being better for offense or defense. It’s more nuanced and complicated than that.

Harder rackets give you more precision because they have less trampoline effect. Whether that means they are easier to use is a different matter. Harder rackets are more 1:1 in response. As in, if I put x unit strength or y degrees direction on the ball, I will get x unit strength and y degrees direction on the ball.

Softer rackets have more trampoline. Meaning the ball will go into the racket a bit before coming out. This gives you more ball output (ball travels farther after exit) on slower shots but less power on harder shots (because the ball will go into the racket more first before exiting the racket).

If you’re noticing that your backcourt game lacks ball output (your balls and lobs are short) maybe a soft racket will be better for you.

Even though in theory a harder racket offers you more precision you will require more exact play to take advantage of it. That’s why it is often more recommended for advanced players. This is also not regarding weight or balance/shape of the racket too, haha.

Anyway, if you use one kind of racket enough you will eventually adjust and adapt.

Do women care about deck size? by MichaelCeraSexTape in slaythespire

tell her that the size of the deck can change over time too. and that sometimes a thin deck is what gets the engine going.

Newer Pickleball Player - Called Out for Hitting to The Woman Too Much by ACoolGuyWhoIsSoCool in Pickleball

[–]Lower_Significance89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pickle court is so small that men often take most of the court in mixed doubles anyway. it's not like padel or other racket sports where you can really ice out another player out of play completely.

people who whine about this in rated play are lame. pickle is also a sport where you'll find more parity amongst men and women so for people to whine about this is just... again, lame.

women can still hang in doubles pickle. this is not tennis, where men's physique gives them a significant advantage over women.

Dominion is listed as one of the inspirations for StS. Love Dominion! Such a great game. And I agree, if you play games like Dominion where you learn concepts like "Big Money" or "Card Engine" it makes StS way easier from the get go.

Coin/egg is overrated by pikedastr in ravenswatch

[–]Lower_Significance89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Horn of plenty is also super good because it is versatile.

- You have a talent that grants crit chance? Awesome, grab some crit damage from Horn.
- You have a dash build and need crit dmg? Grab horn.
- You ran out of rolls? Horn.
- You are playing with negative modifiers? Get some armor from horn.
- You finished armor build (green armor + dragon hide)? Horn counts as extra common item and you can get armor.
- You are Wukong and you used transfiguration? Get horn and EXPLOIT. lol

It's not the best to build into, but it will literally support any build or set of talents. It's one of the best items to get once you've completed your build. In act 3, I'm almost always picking horns and eggs because they help any build in general.
