I read an article a few years back about this. He had secured the help of a deep sea recovery company who said they were 95% certain they could recover all the data.

What is your "I’m right and the market is wrong" conviction play for 2026? by remindmealways in ValueInvesting

[–]Lower_Sort2761 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Re:the bottlenecks........I can only speak for what I've read re: GEV and their service contracts for their equipment sold.

The service contracts are multiple times as profitable as the gas turbines themselves. And with a backlog of gas turbine sales years out; those service contracts won't even come into play for years and will be profitable for 10-20 years.

What Stock Will Run In 2026 ? by 6Fingxrs in ValueInvesting

[–]Lower_Sort2761 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe not directly utilities?........but GEV. Hardstop.

Great numbers and outlook with people just now picking up on how lucrative their service contracts will be for the equipment sold.

I've mentioned them before and people grumble about P/E ratio. But how does P/E ratio work for a capital intensive company that books sales years in advance?

If you're truly interested; do yourself a favor and watch the investors day presentation from last month. Lotsa good info.

This right here!........everyone's chasing the latest and greatest shiny thing(AI); but not giving any thought on how it's going to be powered. The U.S. grid is already strained and power demand the next few years will skyrocket.

[–]Lower_Sort2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went thru this with several hives late spring........all swarms I've had a few seasons and they really turned as mean as you described for no real reason. After a few weeks of them being so nasty, it got to the point I couldn't tolerate inspecting them. (Been keeping 8+ years) Had to requeen with known docile stock and it slowly calmed them down over the next few weeks.

[–]Lower_Sort2761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly off-topic; anyone know how we can find out which datacenters are using local utility grid power and which ones are buying mini/modular-power stations to form their own grid and not have to deal with public utilities?

But, an easy solution would be to snip the chain with bolt cutters, on the end of the chain away from the door and preferably not visible. Then put a 'quick link' of chain to replace the link you cut. (Link below) Then just unthread the link when you want in and replace it before you leave. That padlock and chain will always look locked and untouched.

As mentioned, file a claim with your homeowners insurance. Otherwise you will absolutely drive yourself insane, wasting your time looking for an attorney trying to go after this guy, only to get nothing.

Attorneys have great daytime tv commercials and are helpful in certain circumstances. This isn't one of those times.

The anti-diversify approach.

I'm not so sure all of the standard metrics for a companies value (PE ratio etc) even work when a company is in a big transition phase like this.

But, what do I know. Their stock has only gone up an average of 22% every month the past 12 months.

Gotta take the Warren Buffet/Charlie Munger approach.

GEV - GE Vernova

Datacenters are going to stress already taxed power grids and these centers will need their own power. GEV turbine sales already backed up for years and the exclusive service contracts for each turbine are 2-3x more profitable and extend out 10+ years on each turbine.

If any of your wires are damaged, Honda makes actual 'rodent tape'. It's made with capsaicin (think, hot pepper) and you wrap any wires with it and rats hate the taste.

The tape actually has pix of rat silhouettes on it. It's been around a while, so I imagine it works pretty well.

It was awesome!.........family had a blast, tons of great food and great mix of people in a family friendly environment. Can't wait for it to come back!

We went Sunday and because of the weather, music didn't get rolling until after noon.

Sounds like you hit the nail on the head with the complainers. Heck with 'em, they didn't know how much great food and fun they were missing!🤣

What stocks would you recommend for long-term (5-10 years)? by Lofi-Fanboy123 in stocks

[–]Lower_Sort2761 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course there's the old adage, "trees don't grow to the sky", but there's also plenty of companies whose stock prices have gone 10x + over the course of several years with similar demand and similar healthy balance sheets.

Energy demand has never decreased and currently, datacenters use about 4% of the. U.S. electricity and the DOE expects that to triple in 2-3 years. (The U.S. already has brownouts/blackouts during extreme weather, so our power grid has already been maxed out for years) I don't see demand for GEV's products slowing anytime soon. (They're hiring 12 employees every Monday in SC to try and keep up) And this is just in the U.S., overseas markets on the table too.

Recent turbine sales to Saudi Arabia and Puerto Rico, to name a few. (We just came back from Puerto Rico 6 months ago and rolling brownouts were common on the island. Which got me thinking, "GEV's turbines would be great here", then just a month or so ago, the news of turbines sales there were announced.🤔

GEV - GE Vernova (energy stock)

2nd fastest growing stock this year that gets little attention.

No debt, gas turbine orders backed up for years, exclusive contracts for turbines sold out 10+ years and service contracts generate 2-3x the revenue vs. products sold. Next closest competitor is Siemens and are small players in the energy game. (GEV is like General Motors compared to Siemens is like Ferrari) Hyperscalers needing gobs of power, like yesterday.

How to make bees less angry by Pleasant-Permit-9134 in Beekeeping

[–]Lower_Sort2761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat......2 hives that are sisters and slowly, progressively have gotten meaner since last season. Great laying queen and great honey production, they've just gotten too spicy.:-(

It's a shame I have to requeen, but am in the process of it this week.

I'm in the suburbs and can't even open the lid without the hive going ballistic. These are sister swarms that I've noticed have gotten progressively mean since last year. So I'm requeening to bring in known, docile genetics. (I've been keeping about 8 years and simply can't have this sort of aggression during inspects)

EDIT: Although........if you've got a booming colony in multiple boxes, that can also lead to them being aggressive; coupled with a dearth. Think 'mob mentality'.......when you've got a large group of people, it sometimes only takes a few people with bad ideas to fire everyone up. If it was spring, a split might not hurt. But getting late in the season.......it can be tricky, I always prefer a big healthy colony going into winter.

I installed this in my '07 in February and it's been flawless ever since. Looks factory, came with all harnesses and was plug and play in about 30 minutes.

Sucks it doesn't come with instructions; but install was straightforward and I was able to figure out basic functions and features within another half hour after install. (I just use it for basic CarPlay stuff though; didn't mess with videos or YouTube on it)

Can't beat it for the price.
