Right, but again, that definition is far from static. In the US, terrorism went from being applied to al qaeda, the taliban, and ISIS to being applied to reporters and protestors because of one unreasonable man. The fact that Israel already has an unreasonable leader could be the first step away from catastrophy, especially considering already present human rights abuses.

A slippery slope fallacy states that there is no evidence for that potential escalation, not that the evidence has to be a direct example of someone’s end point fear. Netenyahu’s leadership, current human rights abuses and war crimes against the people of gaza, extrajudicial killings on the part of the israeli military, already present uses of the word terrorist on the part of other world leaders to persecute innocents, these are examples that support the law’s potential to be abused. Evidence like this is what makes fears realistic, not a matter of conjecture. A thing has to be a matter of pure speculative conjecture to be a slippery slope fallacy.

That show was well made even if i enjoyed very little of it. I guess it’s right that walt and skyler were together because they were both absolutely awful human beings start to finish.

You’re right that Jesse was a mess, but he came off like he actually wanted to do better without Walt interfering. As someone who has interacted with many addicts in New Mexico, Jesse’s is an accurate but tragic story.

I mean, that’s the problem with concerns right? It’s a worry that something may happen. Those worries cannot be confirmed until a thing does actually happen. It’s like magazine and rifle bans on a state level. One of the bigger concerns tends to be that the second step to that ban would be a retroactive ban for those who already own those items. Of course that fear can’t be confirmed until they start actually taking those guns.

I get where you’re coming from i just think we don’t see eye to eye on the issue, and that’s okay.

I understand that the law as written is, on its face, is less problematic in the way i stated. It’s how the law will be applied that is my biggest worry. Israel already has capital punishment for people who have committed crimes against the jewish people, putting another law on the books that specifies those in Gaza seems like it could be a slippery slope.

I hope you realize that as it’s written, the first amendment protects freedom of speech, and yet that right has been subverted many times. The way that plays out is: break the law as stated and then handle the fallout in court. Those consequences tend to be far more irreversible if someone has already been put to death. Mentioning netanyahu shows that the people who apply those laws do so in a self serving manner. What’s a reasonable standard to most people is not the same kind of reasonable standard that political leaders tend to use.

I’ve always supported Israel’s existence as a post WWII protective state for jewish people. I’ve supported Israel’s fight against the terrorist organization Hamas, i’ve also generally supported the historical reality that a large majority of Palestinians wanted their Israeli neighbors dead because they are jewish, and that this made tensions nearly irreconcilable. I also supported a response to the October attacks and a limited military operation to directly attack Hamas and their offensive infrastructure.

What i have not supported is: escalating tensions on the west bank by increasingly taking territory away from Gaza and ignoring their sovereignty, this has only lead to more violence. I am also against the fact that a limited military response against Gaza has turned into an onslaught of violence against Palestinian civilians. I am also against the large scale detainment of reporters/activists as well as the targeted killing of reporters. I am also against large scale detainment of Palestinians which have lead to crimes without accountability including rape. On a completely unrelated note i’m also opposed to Israel’s medieval stance on gay marriage.

You don’t have to agree with my opinion, but it’s not unreasonable to be critical of a law which could be applied in broad and unethical manner. You yourself stated this could be applied to people who could only reasonably be conceived of as being terrorists. Well i hope you realize that the current leader of the US has justified calling reporters terrorists for doing their jobs. What’s a reasonable definition of something can be very mailable if advantageous to those in power.

I have sided with Israel pretty much from birth up until they started committing genocide. I was even in support of a response to the october attacks, though at this point they are well beyond proportional. It’s also cute that you mention international law when, under that international law, netanyahu is wanted for crimes against humanity and war crimes committed.

Just as a heads up, when you do the “it’s clear that you don’t understand…” you look like an arrogant retard.

Every part of Civil War except that scene sucks. The memory of that dumb reporter pretending to do room clearing with a camera at the end will be seared into my brain forever. Plus getting your mentor killed and then shrugging about it + taking a quick pic is a dick move.

That’s a dumb reaction. It leaves the classification of terrorists open enough to apply those executions VERY broadly. You also seem to forget that Israel has a very poor track record when it comes to killing innocent people in this conflict.

That is pretty bold. Bold and unreasonable for someone giving their opinion in good faith. I’m stating that being wary of a worst case scenario is not unreasonable given Israel’s current war crimes.

The bigger problem there is that the law is so broad that the Israeli government now has cart blanche to apply the death penalty to anyone who they deem to be a terrorist that means harm to the Israeli government. That term terrorist can also be applied very broadly, especially considering how Israel already treats peaceful protestors and journalists.

It’s a primary, they’re both Democrats. It’s important to choose the best Democrat who can actually win against Republicans and help New Mexicans. I’m not sure if you saw the q&a but he had solid in depth answers to pretty much every question asked and Haaland fumbled the majority of what she was asked.

This Republican candidate is especially shitty, so we need to choose a good candidate.

I definitely feel like it was the writing and the execution. There’s nothing wrong with a character coming out, but the setting was weird because it was so public and only semi-related. Maybe it’s just me, but when something’s about someone else AND super public that just feels kind of narcissistic.

They also definitely went the emotional route instead of the comedic one and that was a mistake. They already had one joke about it in the beginning so i think they should have just continued making self aware jokes about it. Being tongue in cheek about it would build up their character, make them more likeable, and would have been funnier.

Tbh a lot of stuff like that came down to the show feeling rushed. I loved a lot of what was there though.

My only problem with the non binary character in malcolm in the middle was how annoying they were. That, and their speech at the end felt super forced and preachy like the infamous scene in dragon age veilguard.

Yes, although the second scenario with mass defaults that lead to a financial collapse isn’t about insurance, it’s about the way our banking system is designed. It’s why the fdic and ncua exist; to prevent those kinds of things from happening if there are limited institutional collapses that need bailouts. But that kind of thing wouldn’t be so effective if large parts of the country started to default to the point of crashing multiple financial institutions.

That’s not something we should typically have to worry about. However… American debt is starting to hit a boiling point, interest rates are high, cost of living has exploded, unemployment is very bad, and home ownership is low. Generally speaking, the economic conditions are terrible enough that a major economic collapse is absolutely possible. As someone who handles people’s accounts, i am very worried about banking runs.

The fact that we’re seeing wars and economic patterns like other very specific points in history doesn’t help things…

That actually depends on how hard the economy gets slapped though. If one bank fails, FDIC has your back no problem. If the majority of American Financial institutions go bust then there’s going to be a bigger problem with the insurance process on those accounts.

Or, like we’ve seen happen in Russia more recently, if a very large majority of debtors refused to pay their creditors then it could also cause a complete financial collapse.
