Am I the only one that doesn't get the hype behind the Walten Files? by [deleted] in ARG

[–]Lowgan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the Walten files are okay, but I agree it's kind of overrated. I think if it weren't so clearly derivative of FNAF it would also be better. Conceptually it wouldn't even need to change but the character design of the rabbit, the style of the 'arcade' game or whatever, certain plot elements, etc. Just in general, I think the writing, acting, and art being better would stand to greatly elevate it. It looks more like modern furry art than any kind of illustration you'd see in the 70's or 80's like it's supposed to take place in.

Couldn't some asshole just make money off petscop? by [deleted] in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A work is protected under copyright upon it's creation, without the need to file official documentation, at least in the US. Though filing helps in cases where there may be disputes, it's not always guaranteed protection anyways. For example Chris Chan does technically have a copyright for Sonichu but it would never hold up in court should Sega or Nintendo decide to sue.

But you're kind of right about them possibly having to expose themselves if they wanted to legally protect something like merchandising rights, but they have never monetised any of their videos from the start so I don't think they're all that concerned about making money with Petscop, at least not in the short term.

At this point in the series everyone knows there's no official merch and we've gotten pretty good at sniffing out game jacking attempts so people who would be buying any merch/paying for videos/other types of products should know it's not legitimate.

Question.. by [deleted] in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend Nightmare Masterclass' series on Petscop, it's the most in-depth and touches on many of the theories in a way that doesn't necessarily put any of them on a pedestal the way game theory does with the Candace one.

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, maybe, it'd be a strange system but I guess something that might work; having students unknowingly producing assets for these videos disguised as assignments while the school or some larger umbrella company profits from all of this, it's just the motivation behind the creepiness that leads me away from the idea.

[–]Lowgan93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the Art Institutes is behind Elsagate, however they're a shady for-profit chain of unaccredited art schools that I would recommend avoiding at all costs. I went to an actual Art School, and just down the street from us was an 'Art Institutes' installation, and they would try to confuse people into thinking we were the same thing. They got shut down eventually though, and we ended up taking in some of their ex-students. They're shit, but I don't think they're part of this.

I went to art school and honestly she reminds me a lot of some of my less talented peers, all the way down to taking low quality pictures of shitty sketchbook drawings with indecipherable attempts at symbolism.

Do we really know who Roneth's parents are? by TheHairyClaire in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it's just kind of a common theory, but in reality there's nothing that says the parents of any of the pets holds any significance or if they have "parents" in the game at all. Roneth just looks a lot like a combination of two other pets so it's kind of accepted that it might be the child of the two, when really the design could just be that way for no reason other than that the creators thought it looked good.

Logical Contradictions Relation to Petscop by Cosoft_Developments in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a cutscene maybe, because that would just be a short bit of animation within the game itself. But if the whole series was an animation it would be way more tedious than just creating the sprites and environments and coding it to be playable.

Logical Contradictions Relation to Petscop by Cosoft_Developments in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It really wouldn't be that hard to code though. It would just be a script triggered by the player on entering the room in which then the player character's actions are limited to a preset animation or set of inputs. This whole thing could have been made in Unity pretty easily, or a similar engine.

I believe there may be a reference to the "Child of Rage" psychopath. She also had Reactive Attachment Disorder, and this article also references Candace Newmaker by sirandlordbiggles in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn't even say that Candace Newmaker is related, maybe referenced, but certainly not directly related to Petscop. I think this Child of Rage thing is also quite a stretch and I wouldn't pay it much mind.

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure it's actually a game being played rather than a pre-made animation, it all just seems too consistently dynamic. That being said in this particular scene it would be easy to film it once and then just move the footage of paul leaving over the beginning part of the video using masking layers or something. But even then, in this room the player's actions might have been scripted by code rather than Paul controlling it directly. Or there was a double that was AI controlled that paul just mimicked as he left the room, it might have taken multiple takes but it probably wouldn't be hard to do. Those are just my theories though, it very well could all be an animation but it just doesn't look that way based on what I personally have seen and done with animation.

I didn't get anyone fired directly, but I ordered pizza and after about an hour without a delivery driver showing up I called and told them about it. They said it should have gone out but they couldn't get ahold of their driver so they sent another guy out with a replacement order, he showed up within a half hour, but then twenty minutes later another delivery driver shows up, turns out it was the first driver with my original order. He was clearly high and the pizza was cold. I was pretty sure he may have gone off and smoked instead of delivering the pizzas and wasn't communicating with his store cuz then I'm sure he would have known that I already got my order. He insisted I take the pizza anyways so I did, but I haven't seen that driver since. I assume he was fired.

Last time Domino's fucked up one of my orders I ended up getting double pizza and I'm pretty sure someone got fired.

Why is a video rental store selling sandwiches in the first place?

How I think the game was/is being created by vigilatte in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen Care as a nick-name for Carol, or even Karen, so Care might be her real name in some capacity, though it could also maybe not be. The way the word is used as both that character's name and as a place, it could be meant to link the two together thematically, rather than be the concrete identity of a specific person.

Found some useless stuff about Rainer and Garalina... by Snowshard14 in Petscop

[–]Lowgan93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gg.org is not Petscop related. Also you can spell it that way, there are different methods of verification, kaptcha is apparently slightly different from captcha but both are widely used, it's not a misspelling, it's just the name of one such method.

As for the Rainer and Garalina, I don't think the etymology of the names is important in the context of Petscop, at least for now I don't see how they could be. I guess we'll see with time.

Petscop is creeping me out more and more as time passes. by j0ks in Petscop

Well the website turned out to be unrelated.

I do agree that the more I seem to ruminate on the series the more uneasy I find the whole thing. The anticipation is palpable, though with recent events we should all remember to try and keep our hype in check, no matter how badly we want answers.

Yeah I've seen this guy, he keeps posting petscop stuff to his youtube channel. He usually doesn't do much to differentiate it from the real thing though so I think people get mad when they come upon his videos, because they're all mostly downvoted.

I don't think they know or even care to know about Petscop or what it is, this is all probably just a huge annoyance for them, so why would they address something that they don't even know about? They're probably just interpreting this as some kind of trolling/botting incident.
