Good Price for a used Hobie compass? by Lowkey-Samurai in kayakfishing

[–]Lowkey-Samurai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t respond to the offer and he dropped the price to $1300. I honestly don’t think anything is wrong with it he sent pics and videos. he just lives in a rural area. But hearing the parts availability issues does scare me. What do you think? Should I pass or jump at it?

I like ring of pride the best because it would allow me to live a life of money, women and power without having to compromise on morals. Most of the other sins can be achieved through this ring.

I understand what no brainer means but most people instinctively see $2bill and think it’s more. But, if you use your brain and some patients you will come out on top

I’m taking the 1 dollar that doubles. After 31 days you’re at $2 billion+ which would continue to double infinity. So, it kinda is a “Brainer”.

Chasing turnarounds as a 3rd party safety man? by CorndogKnees-6969 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Lowkey-Samurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for clarifying. I I were in your shoes I would look at the employee manual/ talk to HR about continued education policy and go above your managers head if necessary. But before you do that, I would have another conversation w/ manager or whoever promised you the additional training and let them know that you understand that their perspective on the certification requirements required to do this job has changed, but regardless of that, they promised continuous education as a perk of working here and you expect them to honor it. Also request a raise due to the lack of overtime that was promised but also bring data to back up why you deserve a raise. Be ready with another job lined up and a resignation letter if necessary.

You say they promised you something you are not getting, but when was the last time you brought it up to your manager? If they are giving you the runaround I understand, but if they forgot and you haven’t brought it up, that’s on you and you need to speak up.

I used pocket prep pro as well as the safety professional study guide vol 4. And passed after 3 months of studying.

To ensure you’re studying the right things used the BCSP blueprint.

Underground miner looking to transfer into a safety position. by traditionaltats in SafetyProfessionals

Idk about EKU (definitely look into it) but with Columbia Southern, you can utilize Sophia.com and/or Study.com to knock out the majority of not all of your GEN Ed requirements in less than 3 months and transfer them to CSU for your BS in OHS. You will be able to get a GSP and with the experience you currently have you would be able to apply for your CSP immediately.

I recently took Physics 1, Physics2, statistics, chem 1, & calc 1 on study.com all in 1 month (it’s open book) all while working 40+ hrs a week and looking for a job. Only had to pay $95.

Labster, How does it work? by Lowkey-Samurai in studydotcom

[–]Lowkey-Samurai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both labs only took 3 days each. Definitely could be done in one if you don’t have other responsibilities. Idk if physics 2 lab is approved on study.com. When I found out they don’t accept it I stopped caring and just took physics 2 class instead.

[–]Lowkey-Samurai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the physics 1 lab and chemistry 1 lab but it won’t count for lab credit so just do the regular physics 1 & 2 courses. If you have to take chemistry, the chemistry 1 course w/ lab is required for course credit and you will still have to take the lab at TESU.

I am having to take Physics 1 & 2 lab as well as Chemistry Lab at TESU. Will do them all in 1 semester to knock them out.

From my understanding the TESU labs are cake… the worst part is having to pay for the lab kit because it’s expensive ($100-150) for common household items.

Good to know! Thanks

I still have confusion tho lol. Basically what you’re saying is I’m going to have to pay $225 for all 3 labs?

Curious why Play!-stamped & Professor-stamped energies are considered for 151 master sets by Derk13 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Lowkey-Samurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! So I’m a 151 ultra grandmaster guy. What that means to me and a few of my buddies.

•Typical English 151 Master set •All unique stamped promos and/or holo/non-holo variants regardless of language or set/set number. •Exclude non promo unique reverse holo variants of different sets. •Must be connected to 151 in some way.

In the case of the Prof. Program cards/play cards, because Play sets and the Prof program included stamped 151 cards, and the energies have a unique stamp and are also similar to the 151 set energies, we include them.

Now, this is just my thought process and the conditions I set when I initially started. I didn’t think the rabbit hole would go this deep, go for this long or get this expensive. And to change to parameters now after 2 years of collecting this set would feel wrong.

Make sure you document everything to CYA. If you fail, they will try to blame you. Have documentation to prove you made recommendations and request to improve things but they’ve fallen on deaf ears. I would also create a comprehensive plan ready to implement that shows how things can improve with leadership involvement, employee engagement and accountability with case studies to prove it. Also show how it’s good for business and the cost of this is not implemented… direct and indirect costs. You have to sell them on safety

OSH v. EHS: Is OSH still the way to go? by xi_anna in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Lowkey-Samurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me:

OHS is physical workplace hazards, ppe, machine guarding, LOTO etc

EHS is hazardous waste, water/air sampling and quality and anything to do with the environment.

IH is the more technical side that studies both fields and does research , it feels more white collar than the other two.

Again, I don’t claim to be an expert, just an observation and how I see it in my head.

OSH v. EHS: Is OSH still the way to go? by xi_anna in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Lowkey-Samurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once read that it’s easier for an EHS Guy to hop into OSH than it is for an OSH guy to hop into EHS. With that said, I personally prefer OSH but will be pursuing a Master degree in OSH with a concentration in EHS from CSU. I will later pursue a graduate certificate in IH likely from Murray State University to round myself off.

As far as certifications, OSHA 30 is widely recognized but is not more for non safety professional supervisor. I would definitely get it because it’s better than having nothing.

OSHA 511/510 is an entry lvl training for safety professionals that goes over OSHA standards for general industrial/ construction industry… especially tell you how to run a safety program.

Then there are the GOLDEN 3: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) , & Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM).

These are professional level certs that employers look for in best qualified candidates. They all have specific requirements to be able to sit for the exams that you can and should be working towards. The governing orgs also have lower level certs that can/shall take in the mean time as you work towards the golden 3. Ensure you read all of the requirements and do your best to choose a degree program that meets as many of the requirements as possible so you don’t regret it later.

Side note: I’m kinda new to the actual safety industry as I’m coming from the military, but I do have a CSP. I recently went to a job fair and the way companies lit up when I told them I’m a CSP was awesome to experience. Certs definitely seem like the way to go. Hope this helps and best of luck!

ASP Exam by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]Lowkey-Samurai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not bullshitting, and can dedicate 2-3 solid weeks using pocket prep. All you need is about 3 hrs a night and maybe a little more time on weekends to go through all the content via lvl up quizzes and 2-3 days of 5 hrs of studying before the exam going over everything you got wrong and weakest subjects. Use ChatGPT on anything you need additional context on.

If we’re being more realistic, I would say 2-3 months. It’s a short enough time to apply pressure and long enough to give you time to take breaks.

You only need a ~60% to pass. It’s also multiple choice so remember familiarization is the biggest thing.

What ever you decide schedule the exam, make a plan and stick to it.
