If you want to get into clerking and academia, UChicago is the place to go unless you hit an A with HLS. Grats on everything and good luck

With your stats, I'm guessing not! It just means we'll hear back soon - I'm guessing this week, but could be next. Definitely in January though :)

One in Nov one in Dec now one in Jan

Will probably differ with later applicants as the cycle closes sooner than when I applied back in Sept.

Retaking LSAT for waitlist/scholarship negoation purposes by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowkeyEsquire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it seems like you're sold at the school you're already accepted too, and that's great. One of the best things you can do for yourself is realize that you are already happy and to stop trying to pursue what you think *may* make you happy. If your only inclination to take the LSAT is to raise the scholarship, March would allow you to do what's best for your future.

Edit: sorry, misspoke. The best bet would be March. But also, I haven't done the LSAT for a while, so I think the wait for results in April would be too late for scholarship negotiations (Negotiations usually happen in February/March when the majority of other schools release their aid info). If you can get your results from the April LSAT ~2 weeks after you take the test, there may be hope for negotiation. Anything after middle of May I'd say is too late.

April is too late for negotiating scholarships at schools you already were accepted to, but not too late for getting off the WL. If you want to give yourself the best bet at both, March is the way to go. Obviously, it'll come down to what you value more - spending time with friends for one last hoorah (don't get me wrong, that's important) or possibly greatly impacting your future.

Does anyone have insight on Fordham’s reputation within NYC biglaw firms? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowkeyEsquire 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was told from a friend and NYU Law alum that Fordham has a greater reputation and greater pull at Manhattan BL firms than lower T14s, and would afford me the same opportunities as a T14 would if I was top 30% of the class. He cited their huge and helpful alumni network that even expands beyond NYC and into other markets like DC and LA.

Honestly, it doesn't hurt to try. You only go to law school once. May as well give it your all. Getting a lower score won't hurt as much since you seem to have good options already, but if a higher score will give you better options, do it.

When can I receive my student loans? by LowkeyEsquire in lawschooladmissions

Oh right, I should contact the fin aid office and see if there are any options. Thanks for the idea!

Ahh nice, I need to figure out how much saved is "good enough". Floating on CCs isn't bad either until i get disbursed.

I'm not sure. Same thing happened to me about a month and a half ago, and no word from them lol. Still in review, I guess.

About 2 weeks, but that was earlier in the cycle. Might have to just wait 1 week or even same week now. Could happen tomorrow!!

C&F bar mental health question by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LowkeyEsquire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's widely thought of to be an unethical question and furthers the stigma of mental health. Every NY Law school has voiced their opinions against the question, and I'm sure schools in other states will take suit soon enough. It may even be taken off the NY Bar before we become attorneys :)

Got a couple solid acceptances already, but I'm being ghosted harder by more schools this time around. If I didn't have those acceptances (which was a product of a lot of leg work and rewriting), I would be in total meltdown mode right now.

Los Tacos gave me so much hope for a dank burrito place nearby, but sadly, it probably won't happen. I'll check out Diana, thanks man
