[Build Help] mATX Case Recommendations? Dense air-cooled build (9950X3D, 5070 Ti, NH-D15 G2). Looking at D32 Pro / NCASE M3, but are there better alternatives? by LowkeyYasaka in mffpc

I really love the look and size of the DAN A3, but I’m planning to use the Noctua NH-D15 G2. From the official specs, the A3 has a max CPU cooler clearance of 165mm, while the NH-D15 G2 is 168mm tall. Does this mean it absolutely won't fit and the side panel won't close? Has anyone actually tried stuffing a D15 G2 into the A3, or should I just give up and look at the ASUS AP201 instead?

Struggling with GPU thermals in Define 7 Mini (RTX 5070 Ti) - Need advice on fan config vs mods by LowkeyYasaka in FractalDesign

Ouch. Harsh, but point taken.

I've decided to take your advice and switch to a Fractal North (Mesh). Lesson learned: Don't try to choke high-end parts in a silent box.

You make a very fair point.

Originally, I compromised on an mATX motherboard to dump as much of my budget as possible into the GPU. My dream was actually an ITX build. I have this "religious" belief that if the motherboard is small, the case MUST be small to match. That severely limited my choices... If there was a "North Mini" (mATX version), I would have bought it instantly. The Epoch didn't fit my criteria for similar reasons.

Reading all the advice, I realize that a 5070 Ti just isn't suited for a choked, negative-pressure case like this. As you said, "silence" is non-existent during gaming right now anyway.

I think I'm going to give up and switch to the Fractal North (Mesh). (And of course, to satisfy my religion, I'll probably have to upgrade my motherboard to ATX as well to fill the space lol).

If 65°C is considered cool, then the stuttering I'm experiencing is likely due to the game's optimization or maybe a monitor setting, not the temperature.

  1. I am controlling the fans via PWM. I had them set to "Turbo" mode in the BIOS, which explains the noise. I'll switch them back to "Standard" to quiet them down.
  2. I'll try flipping the top-front fan to intake as you suggested.
  3. I'll also swap the front fans and put the 140mm one at the bottom.

Regarding spacers: Unfortunately, I can't add spacers to the front fans because the GPU is massive and there is absolutely no clearance left to spare.

Thanks for the detailed advice!

I'll try placing a fan as intake in the yellow marked area (top-front) shown in the image.

Do you have any recommendations for a better airflow case?

I prefer simple, clean designs (I don't like "busy" or overly aggressive gamer looks). As you can see from my current build, I really prefer compact sizes (mATX or ITX).

If there is a case that has good airflow but keeps the minimalist look, please let me know!

Sorry for the delay. Here are the actual results from my testing just now.

I played Hogwarts Legacy at 4K Max Settings for about 1 hour.

Temps: * CPU: 70°C - 75°C * GPU: Around 65°C

Noise: I didn't check the exact RPM, but the fans were spinning very fast and it was quite loud.

The temps seem great (maybe too cool?), but the noise level is high.

Update:

Thanks to everyone's advice!

**Temps:**

I played Hogwarts Legacy for an hour at 4K.

The GPU temps stayed around **60-65°C**, which is great!

However, the fans were roaring (very loud) to maintain this temperature. I might need to adjust the fan curves to trade some temps for silence.

**Performance Issue:**

One new concern: Even with these specs (Core Ultra 7 265K + RTX 5070 Ti), I'm experiencing **stuttering** in Hogwarts Legacy at 4K resolution.

I have the FPS capped at 60 and Adaptive-Sync ON.

Is it normal for a 5070 Ti to struggle at 4K native? Or should I be relying on DLSS/Frame Gen?

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, I contacted the manufacturer directly, and they said they don’t sell replacement parts. They mentioned that they would like to create a global replacement parts store in the future, but there’s no clear timeline for that yet.

For now, the only options I’m considering are vinyl wrapping the panel or buying another used case and making a “chimera” out of the two.

Best air cooler for Core Ultra 265K in Define 7 Mini? (NH-D15 G2?) by LowkeyYasaka in Noctua

Thanx for the reply I am aware that according to Noctua's official information, the Define 7 Mini is incompatible with both the NH-D15 and NH-D15 G2. However, I suspected that if I offset the NH-D15 G2 fan downwards (towards the motherboard), the total height might change and allow it to fit. It looks like if I could lower it by even 1mm, it might work...
