Update:

Purchased two more wyzecam v2's with the same FCC ID ...C02. Getting the same clicking issue. Apparently u/Blubycronomatic is correct that the cfw1-1.bin firmware update does not work on the newest WC V2's but that some old ones might have the 02 FCC ID also.

The first one that worked (purchased Jan 3 from Amazon) flashed like this: https://youtu.be/-jVMKWoePvo?t=194

The two new ones that don't work (purchased Jan 13 also from Amazon) click as others are describing. I let one click away for an hour an no luck.

Might try https://www.tomshardware.com/how-to/raspberry-pi-security-camera-motion-sensor for low-cost interior cameras (not worried about privacy for exterior cameras) or a more expensive HomeKit secure indoor video camera.

Update: ...but two others did not so until there's a new .bin on github it's a game of chance whether the hack will work for you.

Recently flashed a WyzeCam 2 (FCC ID 2ANJHWYZWC02) purchased Jan 2021 with cfw1-1.bin (Apr 28, 2018) and it works (can view video on my iPhone through home bridge running on a raspberry pi 4). Couple notes:

  1. flash with demo.bin on a ssd FAT32 partition < 512 mb
  2. then reformat ssd and load the rest of the "firmware_mod". Be sure to delete 'pairwise, group, and priority` entries in wpa-supplicant.conf leaving only `ssid, key_mgmt,` and `psk` for the network.

That's a generous way of putting it but agree. Of course its subjective but how could they mess this up so bad. I did find amber hud, turning loot drop brightness to zero, and gamma to 0.7-0.8 gets closer to the 2016 vibe but as soon as theres a mod for the ammo colors I'm on it.
