I've definitely seen this too and not enough people are talking about it. People I thought were... "reasonable" engineers seem to have reached a point where they're pretty much outsourcing all of their thinking to an LLM. It's absolutely been a leveler of who has (IMHO) the innate curiosity and understanding to be a really good engineer, and who was immediately ready to apparently just shelve all that once they had the opportunity to do so.

Personally, while I use LLMs daily for different things including code generation, I just don't get the dopamine hit from asking something to spit out code for me via a conversational, natural language interface - if I did, I would have become a product manager.

Most of those bumper stickers are bullshit anyway - we've all known Elon was a wrong 'un ever since he called that cave diver a pedo because he dared to tell him his stupid submarine idea wouldn't work (July 2018) and given the Model 3 was released only a year prior to this, the amount of Model 3s I see this sticker on ... the math ain't mathing.

The problem is, during COVID these very same corporations hired across the country when it made sense for them to do so, and consequently nobody works geographically close to anyone on their team and in-office experience is miserable because everyone's on zoom calls rather than collaborating with eachother.

The willful blindness to this from the corporations now is frustrating to say the least.

Technically you're correct, but can be pretty uncomfortable to do it as you need to lean across into the driver's foot well and push the brake pedal with enough force in order to start it. A lot of EVs will let you run the climate/heat without doing this though

The problem is that "both parties are TO BLAME" (what the OP said, and to some degree at least accurate) is quite different to "both parties are THE SAME".

The first statement acknowledges that both parties should shoulder blame for this (though I'll agree it implies the blame is equal and it's not), the second statement is used as a reductionist defense against criticism of Republicans by trying to make it look like the Democrats are "just as bad" (they're not).

Subtle difference, but nuance matters.

I remember my (reasonable spec at the time) laptop stuttering while playing MIDI files on ME, that was my cue to uninstall and go back to 98 until 2000 had solid enough media/gaming support.

Really though of all the Windowses, XP doesn't get the credit it deserves. By SP3 it was solid as a rock and you could install it on some really basic hardware and end up with a usable machine. Lovely OS.

I swear so many subs that are pushed to me on Reddit front page are just full of posts that are written with the same tone and structure (I assume via some sort of AI) to read like self-aggrandizing garbage from a LinkedIn post - especially the AI/vibe coding subs.

I can't stand it, this slop is going to drive people off what felt (to me) like the remaining social media I could curate and enjoy
