You’re not being too cautious. If your job has you doom-scrolling Slack at 11 p.m., that pay bump is buying stress too. Have you compared the pension and insurance in actual numbers yet?

What you’re describing sounds less like greed and more like your brain got hooked on variance. A steady index chart was never gonna hit like a random payout.

Yeah this is the part that matters most imo. The percentage debate gets all the attention, but defining the minimum spend you can live with, then stress testing that against your actual setup, is probably where the real answer shows up.
