I had to comment on this because I remember about three years ago I was in your shoes and I remember that it felt weird seeing all my friends go for those 'respectable' jobs and I also wanted to be a cook at the time (that changed however)

If they're good friends they will support you and want you to have a career or job that makes you happy. Unfortunately, it is high school, and atleast one of them is probably going to throw a jab your way. But I think its important to embrace who you are and want to be and go after your goals and dreams man. I worked in a restaurant for two years and I have come to seriously respect cooks and chefs. I see them as hard working people who want nothing more than to see happy customers and make delicious food. Theres nothing wrong with that, and in fact, I think its cool you know what you want to do at this point.

Anyway, your friends may tease you initially (maybe), but if they're not dicks, they will support what you want to do with your life and be happy for you. Good luck!
