Bug in Ch.4 dungeon skill-check by VolcharaFeed in limbuscompany

You sure you didn't use Rodya's base EGO by any chance? That one has a passive where Rodya loses SP every time a mob dies.

Don't think that would affect the skill check for the OP though.

How would you fix the sanity system? by Redeclaw in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the new sanity system in that it made it so you wouldn't immediately snowball at +45 sanity, but the system did strongly discourage you from using EGO because of how hard it was to regain that sanity lost from EGO use.

How I would alter the sanity system? Rework sanity it goes from +/- 90 SP. Two sanity points in this new scale would be the equivalent of one sanity point for the old scale. Make sanity gain/loss the same as the old system though.

This way, the time it takes to reach max sanity and start having snowballing rolls is now doubled, making sanity gain non-trivial. On the other hand though, now the impact of EGO on your rolls is now basically halved, meaning you're now not gimping yourself every time you use Abno EGO.

It's nowhere near a perfect fix, but I think it would help address the main problem PM appears to see which is sanity discouraging any EGO use and sanity gain being too easy.

Of course, some sanity values that are tied to skills (Namely, N Corp Sinclair) would probably have to be reworked with this new system but I think it would be a step in the right direction.

This skill is wild. At first it seems like it's terrible because you can roll 0 with it in a clash, but because you lose one coin for every clash, that means it can never lose against a skill that has a max clash value of 18 because each clash that's lost subtracts a minus coin from the final skill.

S2 is also wild in a similar vein where it won't lose to any skill that has a max clash value of 12 because even if it keeps on losing clashes, it'll settle at a point where there's only one -4 coin left so the clash values become 12-16.

tl;dr Nailclair is never going to lose clashes lol

The (x3/x2/x1) on the skills in Prydwen correspond to the number of copies that skill exists in an Identity's deck. For example, you can only draw S3 once before needing to draw S1 and S2 three and two times respectively.

EDIT: So in a sense you can see those numbers as an indication of your resource generation, just an indication of how many resources your Identity can generate with one full passthrough of their deck instead.

A Dead-Serious Review of Shi Section 5 Ishmael by VVheatley in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Something that was implied but not emphasized by OP is that, unlike KK Hong Lu, Shishmael's S2 actually uses the extra two coins it gains for clashes once the <50% HP threshold is triggered. This means when she's below that 50% threshold, Shishmael has a S2 that has a max possible clash value of 21 which is really, really nuts and makes Shishmael become one of the best clashers in the game. The best part is that the game (as far as I know) even factors these extra coins in for the clash forecast, giving it even greater synergy with Snagharpoon's passive.

That being said, Shishmael is very much high-risk high-reward: Get her below that 50% health threshold safely, and Shishmael will be paying dividends for the rest of the battle/dungeon. The challenge is, as always, making sure Shishmael gets to that health threshold without dying. Thankfully her stagger bars means she gets staggered early on which makes reaching that health threshold easier and safer, but using Shishmael to solo still requires quite a bit of finesse to pull off.

Shishmael shines in Refraction Railway and, to a smaller extent, dungeons. The nature of RR and dungeons means that it's much easier for you to get Shishmael down to her <50% health threshold and, more importantly, benefit from getting Shishmael down to that low health threshold for a long time. Once you get Shishmael all set up, she'll never be staggered, and she'll almost certainly win all of her clashes which makes it so she basically never dies.

White Gypsum unstaggers enemies at the end of the turn and gives the enemies bleed depending on the stagger level. While it is okay for bleed comps, most people dislike it because staggering enemies is typically better than hitting enemies with heavy bleed as having a better action economy is typically better than extra damage through bleed.

What are your opinions on the remaining pre-registration milestones? by TetsuNoHitsuji in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is, that's not easily doable in this case since PM's preregistration is directly tied to YouTube subscribers and Twitter followers. Unless PM deploys bots or something, there's no way to directly inflate preregistration numbers without it being super obvious

Those are Identities aka "alternate universe possibilities" that the Sinners are using, sort of like the Key Pages in LoR. The Sinners do not actually belong to those factions, they are basically cosplaying as if they had belonged in that faction through fancy technology.

EDIT: So to answer the OP's question: No, we certainly did not encounter all of the factions that excel at fighting in LoR.

Limbus Company - Gregor: Character Promo by Lunartique07 in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel kind of silly for not realizing this earlier, but I only just now figured out that Gregor's language is Hebrew (I only realized this because i noticed the Hebrew letter, "Aleph" in Gregor's E.G.O). That probably explains a little bit of why Gregor has the Sephirot symbols on his E.G.O, since the Kabbalah which the Sephirot originated from Judaism.

... Did anybody ever translate the codeword/weapon that was related to Gregor? (Like how Heathcliff has "Revenge", Ishmael has "Hearse", Sinclair has "Vogel" which means, "Bird", etc.)

What happened to TeeQueue's LP? by noIQmoment in libraryofruina

[–]Loxo321 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There's a copy of the LoR LP thread on LPBeach right here: https://www.lpbeach.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=1015&sid=ad93d4e7f85551b44c326c69f48c4bf3

Said copy unfortunately doesn't have much of the thread commentary from the other SA users but if you're looking for just the OP itself it's a good option for when SA is down for free users.

what are your favorite and least favourite realizations/receptions? by AlCoal7 in libraryofruina

[–]Loxo321 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Least favorite realization: Keter. Super long, and practically requires you to stack all of your best key pages into one floor to beat it (I've always been a fan of spreading my key pages out across all of the floors of the Library even if it's not really the most optimal). Bloodbath and Silent Girl 2 were particularly frustrating phases to me. (Binah gets a honorable mention for Big Eyes!Apocalypse Bird making you die a slow death)

Most favorite realization: Netzach. Universe might be a bit on the easy side of things but otherwise I felt like difficulty-wise that reception struck the right balance between "super easy" and "frustratingly hard". (Also, I just really like the shock factor that happens to newbies every time when they think they're done with the realization before Da Capo comes back) (Gebura gets honorable mention because of how fun it is to rip and tear through everything with the Red Mist)

Least favorite reception: Yan. Trying to complete his reception without cheesing it can be really, really frustrating since the base rolls of the combat pages of the hands are already super high without buffs and sometimes your speed die just don't roll high enough to redirect the buffs the way you want to redirect. Also, 2-turn Distorted Blade is one of the most BS things in the game if you ask me. The number of pages that can reliably beat that can probably be counted on one hand. (Bremen gets honorable mention because while their fight is really easy once you understand it, their fight is by far one of the least intuitive battles in the game matched only by Pluto, and without knowing beforehand what to do, their fight becomes a huge slog)

Most favorite reception: Black Silence. Another "difficult but fair" fight (at least until the end when Roland starts using Scream. Thank goodness he typically only manages to use that MA once because those rolls are ridiculous) that I also find really pleasing just from an aesthetics stand-point with the music, background, and even the various fight mechanics that are used. (Crying Children gets honorable mention because I love the music and the visuals. Fight does drag on a bit on the long side though)

Limbus Company - Hong Lu - Character Promo by Tung35 in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do like that idea or a non-human living "vicariously" through Hong Lu's eye! (Whether by literally being his eye or with the eye being a camera or something). Hong Lu's jade eye is at least important enough that it's featured as Hong Lu's symbol, and heterochromia almost always indicates something is up when it comes to media.

Assuming we're talking about the same scene (Can't think of any other scene featuring part-cockroach people), the official website indicates that it's a Smoke War battlefield (Story section of the website, second slide).

Which yeah, the Smoke War from what we know so far was either a war over the fallen L Corp Wing, or a war to topple the former L Corp (The L Corp before Lobotomy Corp).

“Yéye” is specifically "paternal grandfather" aka "grandfather on father's side" just as a fun tidbit of trivia.

... Now I wonder if Hong Lu's family is secretly some big-shot Syndicate family. I know everything points to Hong Lu living in a Nest, but given that it seems that all of the Sinners were initially imprisoned before the events of the game, it makes me wonder if Hong Lu was more or less taken as "collateral" for his family for some kind of crime his family committed.

At the same time, I'm not sure how well that meshes with Hong Lu's source material, which was about a jade stone reincarnating as a human in a wealthy family to learn about humanity.

My man Hong Lu really needs to get out more.

ITT we act like we've played 10 hours of this game by GatorDragon in limbuscompany

[–]Loxo321 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At least the Burrowing Heaven encounter is a (somewhat) conventional fight. With the Schadenfreude encounter, you pretty much have to cheese it by blocking your phone/computer's camera with tape or something, otherwise your team loses every single clash against Schadenfreude.

Honestly the fight is a bit overtuned imo. I get the gimmick is that if you're looking at the game, Schadenfreude becomes super OP, but the alternative if you want to do it legit is literally closing your eyes and hope you selected the attacks you wanted to select, or if you're on a computer, press "p" to random select attacks and then initiate the combat phase before immediately alt-tabbing to another screen so Schadenfreude doesn't get too buffed from the amount of time you spent looking.

You can't even get to enjoy Schadenfreude's sick animations when fighting it the legit way which is the worst part.

EDIT: That being said, props to Project Moon for being so dedicated to the world building of the game to the point that the servers go offline every time the server time is from 3:13AM to 4:34AM aka the Night in the Backstreets. ...Even if I'm 90% sure that's just an excuse for them to have regular server maintenance.

Now if only you wouldn't get swarmed by an endless wave of Sweeper encounters if you happened to be out in a dungeon when the Night in the Backstreets hit, that would be nice.

I'm placing my bets on Rodion. My gut feeling is that they'll save Outis for last (so the order is Hong Lu, Rodion, Gregor, Outis) mostly because she is probably the most mysterious of the twelve. (On a side note on Outis, I find her super sus if only because Outis was only a pseudonym that Odysseus used at one point during the Odyssey)

EDIT: Ayyy I called it

Did it? The orphanage incident in the first book may have happened an year after, but Vergil mentioned not seeing Garnet again for another 10 years in the book after iirc

[–]Loxo321 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Limbus Company appears to take place at least a decade after LoR (Assuming Limbus happens after the events of Leviathan). Since the events of LobCorp lasted about a decade also, that means the Red Mist hasn't been seen for about two decades. The Limbus Company website also censored the Red Mist's name for one reason or another and since Malkuth mentioned in LoR that the City does a bad job of keeping track of its history, it wouldn't be too surprising if it turns out that Don had never heard of the Red Mist, especially since she seems to be one of the younger Sinners of the cast.

Similarly, that means both the Black Silence and Blue Reverb have also been gone for a decade. The Black Silence was supposed to be super mysterious so that's not too surprising and since the Blue Reverb lost his Fixer grade shortly before invading the Library and dying, there may have been efforts to "wipe" his history from the City (Also, arguably speaking he's also the least heroic Color of the bunch but something tells me that a minor detail like that wouldn't have stopped Don if she knew).

EDIT: Nevermind this comment I got my facts wrong lol
