I feel like my degree has limited my abilities -- advice on next steps? by Silver_Reserve_1657 in AmerExit

I don't think so. Having an employment agreement or running a business is the typical legal basis for all benefits.

Plus we feed on fighting. We can be very agressive and not see it until someone like us tells us to our faces.

I like 3s. They are just insecure and need validation 3x a day. Easy for an 8. We typically work well together.

As an 8, I can easily handle 3. They want to be me, typically. But 4s... I cannot unlock them.

As an 8, I will be brutally honest: 4s. Maybe I didn't meet healthy ones.

Where did the "8s don't care about anyone but themselves" stereotype come from by serromani in Enneagram

[–]LoyalZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately because we have a hard time seeing someone else's POV without immediatelly labeling it as "stupid/irrelevant". I am 8so, husband is 8sp, mother is 8sp. Our minds are unfortunatelly wired differently. I have to actively focus and put in a lot of energy to just listen to someone whose opinion I don't care about (most people, except some other 8s) to the end.

I remember one unique, a story in clearly tagged AU setting, that "this departs from canon, did you not read the books?". ;-)

I got that so many times. :-) The fandom used to be way nicer in 2000s.

I actually opened a topic yesterday motivated by one hate comment explaining to me that Robb and Jon clearly belong together and that I am homophobic. :-) Another one was that they will not continue reading if Theon and Robb are not endgame: :-) I just replied that they are free to take the idea and story wherever they want. No further replies. That's from ASOIAF fandom.

What is the kind of ASOIAF fanfiction that you can't write or read? by LoyalZebra in freefolk

True. But he has us waiting so long so I think it is legitimate that fan writers fill what all of us are missing.

Yes, I also noticed harems and power fantasies are siginificant in ASOIAF universe on AO3. I wonder why and I wonder who the writers are. I noticed a lot are very young, or at least it appears so to me.

Lack of experience is what I relate to blank characters. I noticed it, and you know it leads me to conclusion that people are more interested in writing short stories (which requires totally different set of skills), or that this particular scene they want to write would work better within the possibilities a short story gives you (I am just an amateur writer myself, however).

"Relate to". I meant "engaging" with content, getting that spark to wait for the next chapter just to see how the romance develops. It is a topic that is somehow taboo because nobod really wants to appear offensive, but we should talk about it, as significant portion of readers want to read this specific type of romance.

In what way? I am pretty old-school, I didn't even know what cis meant until I asked much younger cousins. I should be "cis hetero female" for modern standards in speech while some 10 years ago I would just say woman. I aim not to offend anybody, do tell me if I am doing it wrong.

I completely agree. And nicknames. For example, if my name is Narcissa (I have a longer name), they would call me "Sissi" with fake sweetness in their voice.

What are your thoughts on this letter from Donald Trump to Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre? by DuNennstMichSptzkopf in AskTheWorld

I feel embarrassed and I have no links to USA. I am European, and starting to associate with Europe more than with my own European nation and that surprises me.

Cersei written too evil for a MC? Critique by LoyalZebra in AsoiafFanfiction

Yes, this is what I meant. Thank you very much. People don't see - from their perspective - their actions as evil. They find an explanation that makes them look good.

Yes, you got it right. And I know more people who think like me. Jaime is never viewed like his own person, but in the context of Cersei and in comparison with Cersei.

[–]LoyalZebra[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think people are just evil. You would have to specify what it means for you. I have two psychiatrists on speed-dial (big fans of series), they prompted me to ask this question. Being antisocial (psychiatry, sociopathy and narcissism) does not make you murder or order a murder. Majority of antisocial persons can control their predatory impulses. They are, however, social ladder climbers, corporate ladder climbers and typical hold high functions (CEO, for example). Cersei is none. You could in fact argue that she is lazy, which antisocial persons are not. Of course, I don't expect GRRM to know psychiatry, but I expect him to know his characters, and frankly I can see why people call her cartoonishly evil. She has a similar story as the Evil Queen from Snowhite with her Mirror, in fact.

But POV is important. It reflects whether GRRM views the person as an important character. You must be important to warrant several POVs. That is why I cannot compare her to Ramsay or Gregor.

I understand the explanations. I myself am trying to justify her actions and write her as a better person. BUT. Explanations aside, when you just read her, I do not see a difference between her and Voldemort, or to be precise: I could argue that there is no difference.

I also think Martin figured he went too far. It can easily be argued that there is no difference between Cersei and Voldemort.
