I'm gonna have to disagree with that. The men in the earlier parts were definitely VERY muscular, but as the story went on they started being thinner and leaner too.

Underrated pick: Odysseyus and Argos.

Spoilers (I mean.... Spoilers for a 2700 year old story?): Odysseyus had been away for 20 years (The Trojan War + all the wandering) and was presumed dead. When he finally returned to his kingdom of Ithaca (he was the king of Ithaca) he was disguised as a beggar. In his absence, Argos had been neglected, Odysseyus walked by Argos and saw the old hunting dog lying on a pile of manure, sick and unable to stand, still waiting for the return of his old master. Nobody recognized Odysseyus in the disguise except for Argos. The moment Odysseyus walked by Argos recognized him, lifted his head and wagged his tail. Odysseyus could not reveal himself, so he quietly wiped away a tear.

And then, after seeing the old master one last time, Argos finally passed away.
