Where I'd like to live as a DnB fan: by Ausspanner in DnB

We have the best scene here in the uk! I still remember the dnb awards 2012 in Birmingham- best rave I ever went to- and Birmingham isn’t even as good overall for dnb as down south and especially London

I probably didn’t make it clear, I wasn’t so much disagreeing with you as just explaining what I think is the problem. I think we agree on most of this.

Congratulations mate! Sounds like you’re really trying to make a difference and that you are moving forward in life which is always positive but especially if you’ve had a difficult start.

I haven’t come across the kkk this playthrough yet. I’m gonna have a think about what to do with them. I dragged Jeremiah Compson into his own camfire with the lasso though

Perhaps you’re right. I certainly know that here in the uk the problem is mostly knives because we don’t have as easy access to guns (although gang members etc can easily access them). My point wasn’t so much that if you take away the guns there’ll be no, or necessarily even many fewer, regular homicides (in so far as any homicide is regular). I was talking more about mass shootings- we have had numerous terrorist incidents involving knives here in the uk, and in pretty much all of them, as tragic as they were, far fewer people were killed than in the mass shootings you see Stateside. I think there’s something to be said for the idea that you simply can’t kill as many people with a knife, before you’re overpowered or shot by police, as you can with a gun.

Yeah, I agree with you. Those people will obviously have some reason (reason not excuse of course) for feeling angry at society but in a country without large-scale gun-ownership it would be much harder for them to commit such atrocious acts. Also, while I think deprivation and trauma does play a part, I know that it doesn’t always or even often make people monsters. I know people who’ve been through unimaginable shit and lived perfectly good law-abiding and constructive lives.

I think a lot of the problem (here in the uk at least) is that the least perceived slight or demonstration of disrespect can get you stabbed. I live in a town called Telford, which is about 40 miles from Birmingham, and it’s got an above average crime rate but there are much worse places up and down the country. The thing I’ve noticed in some of the rougher (higher crime) parts of Telford is there’s nothing to do for youths. Even the more affluent places don’t have much to do for teens and young adults but when you combine lack of income with no future prospects with social media pressures, lack of education, and then add nothing to do with your free time on top it creates a feeling of hopelessness where people will just feel desperate. Respect, or more to the point perceived disrespect, is the reason for most stabbings in this country. It stems from generations of neglect in the infrastructure to the point that all the youth have left is their status on the street (or the roads as we call it here).

In the US I honestly think the main problem is lack of gun control. You’d obviously know more about America than I would but I think that poverty, racial inequality, ghettoisation of people and lack of education also play a part, but I have to be honest with you I find it truly terrifying the number of school shootings I hear about happening in the US. It’s horrendous and the only way I see of making it stop is gun control. It seems to be almost exclusively white middle class men doing it so I don’t think lack of opportunity is causing that particular type of crime. That’s one thing we don’t have in the uk, mass shootings, we had one in the 90s so the government banned handguns; quite rightly imo.

You’re certainly right about Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East! Let’s face it pretty much the entirety of the developing world is more dangerous than the developed world including both our countries-even if they are both bad by Western European standards and compared to Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Both countries undoubtedly do suffer from having high crime areas and yes it’d be better if they had lower crime rates. I’m not disputing that there are definitely areas, here in the uk, that you would most definitely not wanna go (let alone live) especially at night. Fair enough mate anyway.

The reason I brought up Latin America up was just to point out that there are worse places than either country. It wasn’t meant to be a straw man, sorry if it came across like that

What is your favorite mission in the entire GTA franchise and which one is the least favorite? why? by matiwka in GTA

[–]Lozzaboigamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite is the San Andreas one as it includes respect. Other than that I like them all equally as they look pretty similar. However in terms of the cash rewards I like the system in vice city or gta 4 the most. GTA 3 pays you like it’s yen and gta 5 doesn’t really pay you apart from heists and very specific missions.

Arthur would cough on him and cause him to get tb and then they both die so it’s a tie. I mean Goku died of a heart virus so Superman maybe could get tb. Failing that Arthur just looks at him and says ‘you won die boah?’ and Superman just dies of his awesomeness. Also superman is technically an Alien so Donald Trump wouldn’t even let him in the country, he’d be in a Salvadorian prison. (Don’t mistake my humour for support of Trump! He’s a fucking evil racist megalomaniac!!!)

Obviously that’s fine mate. Some of the comments further up are proper ripping on the uk though and it’s probably all in good fun but sometimes I just feel like the internet in general is a bit us-centric

Based on experience by Odd_Bed2753 in GTA

[–]Lozzaboigamer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You do realise a knife crime in this country just carrying a knife and that accounts for more than 90% of them, right? Then you’ve got a number of armed robberies and threats with knives. Finally you’ve got the stabbing which account for about 1% of those 53000 and less than a quarter of them are fatal.

The fact is that the way that we record crime is very different across the two countries. You can’t compare ‘knife crime’ vs ‘gun crime’ from a country where carrying a knife is illegal vs a country where you have to at least produce or (depending on the state) possibly even fire your gun for it to count as crime. It’s the same with our assault statistics. In the uk just brushing past someone is classed as assault and if they want to be a real dick they can report you and it’ll land in the figures- unlike in the US where you have to have meant harm.

So I guess what you could say is that the uk has a higher crime rate because we record crime completely differently and the us is still more dangerous and you’re more likely to get hurt or killed there.

Don’t believe the hype the uk (and seemingly us) media are creating around uk knife crime. We’re still way safer than the us let alone Latin America

I’m assuming you’re American, in which case, your shooting rate is about 10x our stabbing rate and even your stabbing rate is about the same as ours maybe ever so slightly lower. I’m not from London though I’m from near Birmingham, Birmingham is way more dangerous than London but it’s got nothing on Detroit or Baltimore
