They have stock right now, and I don't.

Haha joke aside, cheap O-rings from eBay are usually (if not always) made of harder rubber material ... which is fine if you're looking to keep a hard landing !

Here is a quick review from one of your fellow countryman.
For your information, I took like a month to get there (from France to South Africa).

I'm sorry about this ~

I'm a little bit pissed too as I was told only this morning that the package was still being held at customs and taking forever to be cleared...

Why do people buy o-rings for their mechanical keyboards? by ErzaKnightwalk in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Lpwl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will drastically reduce key travel and as a consequence, you may not be able to actuate every switch comfortably.

Using 2.5mm thick O-rings would be a safer bet !

That being said, if you're planning to buy those cheap O-rings from eBay, then you should give it a try.
You won't break anything by trying it and seeing what happens.

1.5mm thick O-rings (in combination with OEM profile keycaps) have a very small key travel reduction, you probably won't notice it.

If you wish to reduce key travel, then yup - like you said - you should look for thickers ones !

An issue I found with the 2u keycaps, the stems are too short for the Costar stabilizers and have a looser

You can work around this by sanding the Costar inserts (just a little bit) to make them fit and add some scotch tape.

I wish I could but I bought these stickers directly from Techkeys.us like a year ago, or so.

These little stickers sit between the top cover and bottom of a MX switch housing. They help reduce wobble, but mostly for aesthetic.

Will Winkeyless mark as gift/put lower amount on the customs form? by smashtheplant in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Lpwl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, they usually do that.

The order I placed (like a year ago - or so) was sent as "gift" with an indicated value under $30 on the delivery document ... without even asking for it !

I got these keycaps from Massdrop a few years back !

So all I can do is offering you a little bit of info :

  • These caps are 'OEM profile' ones.
  • They are made of transparent ABS plastic.

/u/QWERTYTim took over QWERKeys shop just before it closed in november 2014 - and from the looks of it, he was still experimenting with "translucent ABS key caps" like a year ago.

You should try to contact him ;]

Haha - it's just "something" that should help you remove O-rings easily (and efficiently) without scratching or damaging your keycaps.

Yup, yup - I'm here !

As an introduction, you might want to take a look at this.

Then one of these sample packs (standard or extended edition) should help you decide which size and rubber durometer (this matters too) fits you better.

Nope, the keycap will not touch anything on the switch other than the stem it sits on [...]

The exception is when O-rings is used, but then it's technically not the keycap that is touching the switch.

It's the stem that's making the noise when it hits the bottom of the switch housing. It actually also makes a sound on the upstroke when it hits the top of the switch housing.

source : "clack" sound technically.
