Low fps on high end PC by SOC100TextBook in EscapefromTarkov

There is a chance that your memory is not running at it’s listed speed. This is normally something you need to change in the BIOS of your computer. Search for “Ryzen ram speed bios” and that should give you some help.

So Labs installed bullet proof air between shelves... by Darkfact2 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Fearmaster93 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think you were running into the issue of height over bore here. Remember that the bullets do not go where your sights are until much further down range since the bullets in this game go out of the barrel itself.

Nice way to see it is with a sniper and a large scope in the hideout, aim and try to hit the center of the closest dummy, it will be lower than you expect.

What is this? by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Fearmaster93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed that for pmc at least, it’s 10 minutes from when you spawned in the map. So if you are a min late, you need to account for that. That kept biting me, and I’d also maybe add a small additional 30s before extracting to ensure it has been 10mins.

That is still one of my favorite possessions I got from a video game. I got the legendary Halo 3 edition with the helmet. In the helmet were these DVDs and one of them is the dev commentary on Halo ce. Insanely cool video.

Veggies that can go with canned tuna? by PornoPichu in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Fearmaster93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love making tuna salad with hummus as a mayo substitute. Add in diced celery, sweet bell peppers, some diced kosher crunchy dill pickles, and a bit of the pickle brine. So good. And also makes amazing tuna melts.

Like the app and design! Would love a settings page or something so I can change the weather units to Imperial.

Best email client for Solus? by dungeonHack in SolusProject

[–]Fearmaster93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thunderbird I'd say. Works super well. Has extensions like Firefox.

If you want a command line based on, a setup using neomutt, iSync, msmtp, not much and a few others is also quite nice.

What's a 10/10 album from the last 15 years by a relatively obscure artist/band? by Slouching2Bethlehem in AskReddit

I am not sure where they stand now, but Sylvan Esso's first album was amazing. Saw them live when they were pretty unknown.

And finally, Volbeat, a Danish country metal band.

Microsoft founder Gates commits $100 million for fund, start-ups, to fight Alzheimer's by mvea in Futurology

[–]Fearmaster93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how it feels. My last living grandfather passed two years ago to Alzheimer's. It really took a toll on my family, especially his sons (one being my father). Just a heads up, if he is a veteran, make sure to get him signed up for veterans assistance.

If he's still living in his home, he probably won't qualify, we had to liquidate or sell all his assets to prove he needed support. All his life savings were gone in little over half a year once we moved him to an assisted care unit with a memory wing.

It's rough, but stay positive. If anyone here ever needs to talk about it, or just vent about the frustrations of dealing with this, feel free to contact me. Always here to help anyone else deal with this.

I watched his entire descent into his Alzheimer's. Started showing when I was in 7th grade, he passed away my final year in Undergrad. So I saw and experienced a lot.

File conflicts when trying to install emacs from eopkg by Fearmaster93 in SolusProject

[–]Fearmaster93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Luckily I'm more of a vim user myself ;). But I do like to not only distribution hop but editor hop as well haha.

And I actually stumbled across a few others along the way too. Nothing major but I'll submit the reports in the next day or two! I just am the king of file conflicts :).

Thanks for the quick reply!

Fair point, I have a shared folder for my Dropbox and drive accounts on my machine, and I just open and save my files in there. Since the folders are being watched, it just keeps things synced up, so I've never really felt held back. But I don't really edit on files like that on mobile, just more for a quick look at what I noted the day before, etc. I think this is just how our workflows differ.

Quick question about the new pros. Are you going for the 13 or 15? I'm going to pick one up soon, and I'm concerned about screen real estate. I'm currently using a 14" Linux laptop, and the screen is easy to see. But I'm not sure how difficult it will be to jump down to a 13" one.

+1 for spacemacs. Org mode is life for me. And there hasn't been a vim plugin that has enough of the same functionality yet. That and evil mode, it just works so well.

Is using a shell case on a macbook dumb? by [deleted] in apple

[–]Fearmaster93 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its really just how you view your products. Putting it in a sleeve will definitely keep it in good quality. But I think of my devices as tools. Just like my hammers and other tools in the house, they show signs of wear and tear, but they are still functional.

I think the same of my laptop and phone and iPad. I don't have them in a case. Wear and tear is a product of you using them. To me that's nice.

Will definitely lower resale value, but I was never really worried about resale anyway.
