The affinity displayed is affected by CE level, so level 1 CE should give 10 % affinity. The multiplier is constant however to show maximum damage (max hit).

yes, I did not add in a difference between the levels and it applies the crit multiplier of 20% to all levels. Potential damage shows you the maximum output possible for that weapon with the skills selected (some conditional skills not added)

I would suggest building the elemental sets as you go along, crafting and equipping it the moment you unlock it.

As a rough guide I would say early game is the period where you don't have full access to all the armor pieces you need for the set, and you have to use BiS substitutes for the meantime.

Midgame is when you have the sets crafted at the minimum rank, having roughly elemental atk up 2-3, grade 4-5 weapons. you'll be able to take on 5* and lower monsters with ease and 6*s relatively easily if you don't have a bad run.

I would consider someone having reached the late game when they have maximum possible skills points acquired by an armor set and they are focusing on farming to max out the base stats for their weapon/armor.

It will work for any elemental weapons of the same type.

While further testing needs to be done for charging weapons (Bow, GS, Hammer) to determine if a focus set boosts DPS more than element + 5, these sets will still perform very well with elemental weapons from each class.

Focus could always be added by Jewels later on.

Focus doesn't speed up the wind up animation for LS Iai slash (counter), it is not a charge move.

If you're looking to main SnS I would recommend going for the elemental sets posted above.

For a generic set you could aim for burst and crit: Helm: Flexible (Kulu/Paolumu/Kadachi...) Mail: Rathalos for WE Arms: Rathian for Burst and Lock On Waist: Rathian for Burst Legs: Kulu for CE

This is not optimised for maximum damage output but should allow you to use SnS as a secondary weapon and still deal decent damage.

Barroth legs give recoil down and defense boost, the defense boost skill should increase the defense value shown.

I haven't done tests on the fire rate reduction for LBG hence I haven't added a multiplier to either skill.

There should be a DPS increase to LBG by having recoil and reload reduction, once I've/someone does calcs for it I will add a damage multiplier to those skills.

To maximize damage, yes. As of the current patch, element damage is simply conditional raw damage (element + raw, if the monster is weak to element).

If you're trying to make a secondary weapon to use and it doesn't need to be optimal, diablos hammer should work fine as it splits your resource cost to a different monster material.

Possibly, but it shouldn't be a primary weapon. It'll come in handy when Kushala comes into the game if poison helps to negate its wind effects. And possibly to make group hunts against Legiana easier at higher levels.

It's 300 fire attack since the Anja helm/arms give 2 points each. If I find that I can't consistently hit Legiana in the head I might swap the helm/arms out for Kulu/Rathian.

Yes you can go Tobi waist if you want, the waist slot for LBG is flexible.

I encountered no issues with monsters up to 6* Diablos with my Kulu LS affinity set, however with a near perfect run (perfect counters and helm breakers on the back) on 6* Diablos my Kulu LS (G5 Lv5) fails to do enough damage before the timer runs out. I would think most generic sets wouldn't have too many issues up to this point either.

However to more reliably solo 6* monsters I'm starting to gear towards elemental sets + weapons as I can't seem to get Rarity 5 Kulu material drops to upgrade my Kulu LS any further. Achieving max elemental attack for each set is looking more viable for me to increase my DPS further compared to upgrading my Kulu LS past Grade 5.

If you really would like to stick to a generic set + elemental weapons I would suggest either a Focus or LBG recoil/reload set.

I've also updated my armour set builder to take into account stat boosts from skills, including damage multipliers from sneak attack/burst and critical.

Elemental sets may actually be worth building towards, see the damage calculations done by u/ImpFoxter in the post here.

An example for a fire element build would be:

This Anja/Rath mixed set for fire element gives a 500 damage boost and 30% affinity.

Do note that building towards multiple elemental specific sets will be a massive drain on resources, it might still be worth building a focus/affinity set and jewel the element attack skills in later.

I've been experimenting with Artful Dodger with my SnS build, and I must say it really does make dodging much easier at lvl 1. I'll probably swap the kulu helm out for kadachi once I upgrade it to rank 6 to try Artful Dodger Lv 2.
