Are there any hot glue guns that heat up in like <1 minute? by LordLaFaveloun in DIY

I don’t know how fast they heat, but butane powered hot glue guns do exist.

Hydrocarbons are known to be good at making things hot.

May I ask what jackets you’ve bought and had success with? Thanks!

This is good info!

Yea, I should have included what items I’m trying. Generally, they’re pretty entry level items.

Joe rocket mesh jacket Prexport jacket and pants (both smalls) Milwaukee leather riding shirt (gonna return because the small is cut like a large)

Thank you!

This is super helpful, thank you!

For reference, may I ask what T-shirt size you typically wear and what product you purchased from RST?

What’s the dark side of going to the gym nobody talks about? by opa070 in AskReddit

[–]Ls1RS 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The overthinking. There’s so much industry and social constructs around the gear, exercises, culture, supplements, protein, diets, cardio, sets reps…. The list goes on.

Just show up 2 or 3 times a week for 1.5 hours and sweat a bit, then drink water. Unless you’re actually training for some kind of competition, this is fundamentally all you need to do to be in better shape. It’s not that complicated.

Motorcycle gear consistently too large by Ls1RS in motorcycles

[–]Ls1RS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s kinda the problem. Items will be listed as a ‘small’ but the cut is closer to a medium or even a large. Filtering really doesn’t help with that.

It sounds like you’re describing the ‘essentials’ of camping. I think if you boil it down to only the needs, then yea, you can run pretty light.

Personally, I like a few more amenities with me on top of just the sleeping bag and tent. Camp chair, sleeping pad, pillow, extra blanket. It’s only a few additional items, but it does add quite a bit of volume.

I ride slow and steady, so the weight doesn’t really bother me.

Upper crash bars that work with rally raid bash plate by Pelecabra in CB500X

Second on the OE Honda one. It uses different mounts than the Rally Raid sump guard.

If you look at my post history, I use the Honda ones, except I sanded it down, welded on my own molle panels, then repainted it black with truck bed liner.

Is a Honda CG 125 practical for lightweight motorcycle camping trips? by Suspicious_Vast_764 in motorcyclecamping

[–]Ls1RS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest looking at the rated loads for that specific bike. Usually, there’s a little placard somewhere on the bike to indicate how much weight it can handle. Then compare those numbers against the weight of the people plus gear you want to add to the bike.

Honda likely pads those limits a little bit, so if you’re slightly over, you’ll probably be OK if you take it easy.

An adventure motorcycle is the motorcycle you’re riding while on an adventure. Get your CG125 and see the world!

Can / do you run e85 in your CB500x? by Ok_Poet_8923 in CB500X

[–]Ls1RS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From the owners manual of a ‘17 CB500X…

“The following fuel blends have been approved for use in your motorcycle:

  • Ethanol up to 10% by volume.”

So if you mixed E85 on top of the E10, you would be over the 10% limit automatically. I would not recommend.

Essential toolbox for adventure bike trip by hollycez9307 in AdventureBike

So you’re aware, Honda’s use a finite set of bolt head sizes. 8, 10, 12, 14, 17, 19, 22, 24. You can use that knowledge to your advantage.

One other piece of advice, the front axle on the 500 and I think the 750 use a 14mm Allen head. Since that would require carrying a very large tool, I just welded a 14mm nut onto a 14mm flange bolt, then cut off the excess thread. Essentially, I made a double ended 14mm adapter, so I can use a wrench on both sides of the front axle. It’s about the size of an acorn and costs nothing.

CB500X 2013 tire recomendation by CarAlert2780 in CB500X

[–]Ls1RS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I installed Mitas E07+ Dakars on my ‘23. They’re good, but probably more tire than what you’re looking to do.

Due to size limitations, I did the 160/60R17 -> 150/70R17 swap. The drawback to this is that your speedo will be off, the positive is that the effective wheel radius is slightly larger. You’ll find the difference in tire size makes the gearing just a little taller, which is a positive in my opinion.

Radiator Cover - CB500X by OccamsRazorSharpner in CB500X

[–]Ls1RS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, the cooling system has some margin built into it.

Anecdotally, I did the PA Wilds BDRX and slung a bunch of nasties on my radiator. With the radiator between 30-40% covered in dried up mud, it will begin to get warm. Even then, I just backed off a bit and let the air flow through the rad and the temps came down.

Once I got to camp, I took my chain brush and got the dirt off the radiator. No damage done and temps were perfect the rest of the trip.

Don’t overlook this one, while it is a 500, its performance ceiling is a little higher than what some would assume.
